Gizmo Pal 2

thinkthrice's picture

Don't get me wrong.  I LURVE technology.  I work in IT.  I have 2 wireless roombas, hell my washing machine has wifi capabilities.  But this Gizmo Pal 2 for kids (watch with built in GPS), although GREAT in INTACT families would be a NIGHTMARE in STEPfamilies especially with a HCGUBM at the helm trying to spy on her precious' whereabouts when on Dad's time.   If it were me, I'd confiscate said watch at the door and give it back as contraband when the skids go back to the mothership.

Any thoughts?

Exactly because of devices like this.  Our BM would try to use anything she could if we didn't take such a hardline.  She even sent SS7 at the time with a FitBit so she could monitor.

I had a former aquaintance tell me how she tracked her son when he was with his dad. I don't know what my face looked like but internally I was screaming, "YOU are the problem!"

The father is not from the states so mom also hid son's passport and wouldn't sign to replace it. Even though she had previously gone with father and child for several years to his home country to visit his family.

BM later became friends with this mom. Probably taught her some new tricks.

Just say No.  No explanation needed.  Your house, your rules.  As long as BM has reasonable access at least once per day.

Thanks for letting us know about this watch! It just looks like a regular one, and I can see SS just walking into the house with it with no explanation of what it is. It's a great idea on one hand (pun intended haha) but not a great idea when BM uses it to keep track of SS (and us).
