Dreading the Weekend as Usual

Good news: BM did NOT withdraw SD10 from the school she is attending in XMIL-town like she told them she would? Did you catch that? I'll give you a synopsis. In January BM sent SD10 to live with her grandmother because SD10 was telling anyone who would listen how mommy drinks and passes out every night. Now she thinks grandma is trying to get legal custody of her so she is trying to get her back. (Reality: XMIL is actually helping us form a case against BM so that we can get legal custody of her to be effective after this school year. One school change per year is enough.) So in an effort to try and get her back, BM has tried bribing SD10 with an iPhone (kudos to SD10 for not taking the bait) and most recently called the school she is currently attending and has all her friends at and informed them that she will be withdrawing her as of last Tuesday. Which just happened to be SD10's birthday. Nice. Anyway, BM's true colors showed through once again as she did not follow through on her threat and SD10 is still safe in her grandmother's care for now.

Bad news: In some strange wave of generosity and stupidity, I told SD10 she could have a slumber party this weekend for her birthday. I wasn't even drinking when I promised this. I clearly did not think this all the way through and now am stuck planning a party for her. At the same time we also have SD11 and SD5 this weekend. DH works most of this weekend. He tried to convince me that we should just take them last weekend since he knew he would have to work, but at that point we had them for 4 weekends in a row and I needed a break so now my consequences are that I have to babysit all weekend. Also I just hit my 3rd trimester and the fatigue is taking over my life.

pizza, ice cream, chips, soda and movies. Put them in a room and they will entertain themselves. Slumber parties are easy. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips ladies! I think I am going to take her tomorrow to buy some nail polish and cheap makeup so they can have a little spa party. And we do have Netflix. Having her set up an instant queue is a great idea! Plus she is getting Just Dance for her birthday so I am sure they will have lots to keep them busy. I am definitely running to Costco for a couple pizzas and ice cream. I bake as a hobby (and I am super cheap) so I don't know if I can bring myself to buy a pre-made cake, but if that's the only thing I have to worry about its not a big deal. I can do this!
