O/T: Anyone have experience with Verizon's Voice Link service in place of phone lines?

We live in the boonies. Every year, this time of year, we have to place a service call on our phone lines/box.

Apparently, when it gets cold & wet outside, the mice find phone boxes the place to go & nest.

So, when we start hearing the familiar irritating non-stop "buzzzzzzzzzzz...." on our landline, we call for service.

I placed this call this morning. Instead of the usual "Take a corded phone across the field to your phone box & plug it in to see if it works...." speal, I get a pitch (or rather a PUSH) for this Voice Link service.

I've never heard of it, so I'm not sure it's something we want. It doesn't allow for certain things (DVR, Dial-up, security systems, etc) which really doesn't matter to us. We're very "simple" people. We don't have dish or cable or DVR or internet or security systems, etc, so those things don't matter.

Apparently, Voice Link is a wireless service. There's some kind of device that plugs into a wall outlet & a phone jack.

I was wishy-washy about agreeing to it. As soon as I expressed hesitation she became very pushy with it, which made me even more leery.

Is anyone familiar with the service? Anyone have opinions?

That was one of the red flags that a site pointed out when I googled it. You'd think if it was awesome or even good they'd be advertising it.
