FDH's stepmom....the woman I want to be!

SteppingUp's picture

Have I ever told any of you how much I LOVE FDH's stepmom? She is the most caring, gracious, amazing woman I've ever known. My family threw me a bridal shower last weekend back in my hometown (3 states away). I called FDH's mother to ask her if she htought I should invite his family knowing they wouldn't be able to come? She said no...I thought maybe after this conversation it would "click" that she might want to host a bridal shower here for FI's family. I would never ASK anyone, but I figured if someone were to do it, it'd be my fiance's mother, right?

Nope.

Do I push this issue or not? -- "SD" 6 visitation

SteppingUp's picture

FDH and I have discussed over the past few months about decreasing our 'visitation' with SD6, as she has a biological father in her life (who wants to be more involved), BM gets paid child support to have her and we get nothing but feel obligated to take her. We decided that we should move towards an "optional" schedule with her -- you know, say "Hey we're going to the movies tonight, can we take SD, too?" rather than having a set schedule to take her. When SD6 goes to her biodad's house, they make her feel guilty for coming to ours.

BM's trip to NYC.

BM went on a trip to NYC this past week, to visit her ex boyfriend. She recently told SD6 and this guy is an alcoholic and she's not sure how the trip would go (because that's appropriate conversation to have with your 6yo?). Anyway, she has been gone since last Wednesday. She only had the skids one day last week (Tuesday). We found out yesterday, via her facebook, that she returned to town yesterday, around 1pm. So tell me why she lied to us that she wouldn't be back in town until today??

Update from yesterday's blog re: changing visitation...still have questions! Please answer!

FDH and BM decided to move to a true EOW schedule. Starting next Sunday, we will have SS3 Sunday-Sunday and then a week off. I asked FDH if he is thinking about modifying the stipulation to signify that it is now joint custody, or if he will call CS Enforcement Agency to see about lowering his child support.

How many texts does it take to be a bad mother?

SteppingUp's picture

You know...kind of like the "how many licks does it take to get to the center of the lollipop?"...

But seriously, how many texts a month would you say is normal? And how many texts would you say a month is interfering with your life - full time work and parenting? Now I'm talking outgoing AND incoming....which I would assume are somewhere in relation to each other as you typically respond to any incoming.

After I hear some answers I will share why I'm asking Smile

Why would you lie about signing up your kids for summer sports activities? Ugh BM has no excuse!!!

FDH to BM: Why didn't you take the skids to gymnastics last week?

BM: Because I didn't sign them up

FDH: Then why did you SAY that you signed them up a few weeks ago?

BM: I never said that.

Being in the middle of BM and FDH's communication means...

that I have to see her dumb name in my inbox almost daily. Well atleast since we started this email/Google calendar business. I don't know if I like that. Smile

Oh, and she's so dumb that she added her next pedicure, highlight, manicure, hair cut, facial, and brazilian wax to the KID'S calendar rather than her own...so we got an 'invite' to all of these appointments. I emailed her and alerted her about it and she goes, "ohh. Oops."

I finally did it. I said "NO."

After a week of drama concerning ME taking the skids by myself while FDH is out of town, (lots of backstory I don't have time or energy to type and don't want to bore you with details)...and today BM and FDH just ASSUMING that I'm okay taking both SS3 and his older sister SD6 -- who is not my FDH's daughter -- next week for two days while BM is on vacation...I finally said, "NO."
