What was that? Did you hear that? That was a huge sigh of relief coming from me!

Wow, well, what a 180* turn in my outlook since last week. After our blow-out regarding SD 20 and the lack of responsibility and maturity on her part, DH and I have discussed a lot of things and are 'hashing it out'.

In one of our discussions, I was given the best news I could possibly have heard. It turns out that the skids will not, I repeat will NOT, be visiting our home for the holidays this year. Apparently the 'SD birth control bill' did the trick. She's apparently really po'ed that I sent her the bill that she's responsible for. Geez, if I knew that's all it would take, I'd have done it long ago!

I feel like the giddiest teenager ever. I can now plan our days and not have to twiddle my thumbs and put our plans on hold waiting for the skids to arrive (they're usually approx. 1 hour late, give or take a few mins). I won't have to feel the tension in my shoulders when SD walks through the door. I won't have to sit and smile pretty when the STUPIDEST stuff comes out of SD's mouth and she contradicts herself with every sentence. I won't have to sit by and listen to "Mom said this" and "Mom thinks that". I won't have to smile as I watch her pop a pill that WE paid for. I can actually spend the first EVER Christmas ... just me and my family ... and not be annoyed or frustrated. We can wake up when we like, eat our breakfast and open gifts in our pjs, listen to Christmas music, go to church, enjoy dinner, play with BS2 and his toys from Santa, sip hot cocoa and lattes, all without having to cancel or postpone anything while we wait...and wait...and wait.

Oh JOY!

Anyone else find their holidays looking up?

I'm so glad for you!!
I'm looking forward for Xmas because I will be at my parents house, but we will get the skids as soon as we come back for about two weeks...oh joy!....but I guess dealing with three spoiled little brats is sooo much easier thant dealing with an irresponsable grown woman Wink

Woooohoooooo! That is great for you! I want smooth Holidays, but with my MIL acting the way she has been, the outlook seems grim. I can still hope though!

My holidays will still be with stepkids, but i dont wait:) i open my gifts with my dh and son and we have our hot chocolate and lazy morning and afternnon. they do not arrive till the night and it works very well for all of us:)
Though in the back of my mind, i think sd will be a no show....not that i care. and even if she does , i'm sure she'll want to leave right after opening her gifts. This i'm sure will piss my dh even more. oh well
You are soooooooo lucky they are older and there is no weekend pickups..etc..etc.. So lucky.
But i'm looking forward to sd having a bf soon..cause then she wont be around to emotionally abuse my dh.

Nomorefaking1 - yay!! Good for you!

And it never ceases to amaze me how a small conflict can turn out to be a good thing because it leads to things getting "hashing out". Good luck with that!

I have no idea what's the plan for the holidays regarding the kids, but that doesn't matter because my mom is coming to visit. I can't wait! Smile
