Punishment Weekend is Over

Sigh.

I feel mentally worn out from having SD for a "punishment weekend" due to the fact that I had to constantly monitor her and give her school-work and chores etc. And, since the meeting with BM, it seems she is more comfortable to talk about mom and mom's family, so I got more than I really wanted to hear.

Also, I dunno if BM gets it. She asked us to have SD for this "punishment weekend" for stuff she did at BM's house. SD was mad at her and refusing to speak to her. BM caved and wanted to come get SD early. At least DH said no. SD was mightily amused at this, bragging, "Mom wanted to come and get me." But it just goes to show that BM has no clue about the meaning of the word "repercussions".

Oh dear, you should read my post, thats where SD is heading. You are in for a nightmare. I think SD punishment should occur at the house she was wrong at. Handing her over to you is ridiculous

Hey, I read your post. I didn't really have a problem with SD's punishment rolling over to our house, especially so long as BM keeps up her end of the agreement once SD gets back there. I was glad to have her here to be able to do some schoolwork, which she desperately needs help in. DH would have dealt with her all weekend, but he had to work, so I see it as supporting him (and being there for SD) rather than supporting BM.

But I do agree that BM needs to learn how to deal with her problems at her own house, and that by sending SD to us she is simply avoiding dealing with it directly, which will come back to bite her in the ass.

You ever notice how "punishment weekend" for them just turns into punishment for us?

I'm certainly beginning to notice! My own kid is only 10 months, so SD is my first experience in dealing with "punishment".
