I just want to say that I am so glad I made an account and a few posts recently. I stumbled upon this site about a year ago and had been stalking it since. I wish I would have made one sooner because it's nice to have a place to vent where others may be going through something similar or can offer advice, even if I'm being wrong I like to hear the feedback. I grew up with an intact family and all of my aunts and uncles as well. I have a couple friends who had step parents and I get their feedback of being a SK and try to see it from a SK POV as well. Being a Step is not easy and there's a lot that goes with it and I'm just glad there's somewhere like this to talk with others anonymously! Thanks for everyone's replies on some other posts, I actually really appreciate it all! I wish I would have made one sooner when I was having issues awhile back!

This place can REALLY help when you're feeling low, and I always appreciate any opinion given to me - like you say even if we're wrong!

Sometimes you need to get your story out and others may open your eyes that yup, confirmed, you're being mean lol but I like the advice either way it goes. This site is kind of my new addiction. There's some entertaining stories on here too!

How I wish I'd had this site back in the "70s when I found myself a full-time stepmother of 3 which along with my 2, gave me 5 kids between 9 and 15. It would have made a world of difference. Even at this stage, where I'm 75, it helps me understand the dynamics, some of which are still playing out. You get many filtered and unfiltered opinions on here from the entire spectrum of age, experience, and philosophies and from around the world. I like the honesty and diversity. There's usually at least one kernel that will resonate with you, often more. Good luck!

When I "first arrived" here, I was at my wits end and miserable. Shed a lot of tears.
NOW, of course, life is pretty good - the ex is in the background for the most part, the eldest is off discovering her self somewhere that doesnt affect me, and the youngest and I have a very positive relationship. Throughout it all, I always come back here...to help others if possible and also to bounce things off others. There is no other community quite like this.

I'm so glad I found this website, too! There's so much useful information, and it totally helps not to feel alone trying to navigate everything. Even with all my perspectives on these things, I still almost never have the answer, though becoming a stepparent definitely made me message my stepmom and OMG I'M SO SORRY I HAD NO IDEA!!!
