Officially Mrs. DH :-)

It's been a while since I posted and a lot has happened. DH and I got married a couple of weeks ago and I've been having fun calling him "husband" and the married life. Not much has changed really since we've been living together for 2 years already and have had SD9 for 2 years as of next month.

If you look back on previous blogs you'll see that we were allowing BM to visit with SD under our supervision, but that only lasted for three visits before BM started threatening court and acting her usual crazy self, so we had the protection order put back in place and she is allowed no contact with SD or us. I hate that things had to happen that way for SD's sake, but life is so much better without BM's craziness in it. We were also highly suspicious that BM was going to try to kidnap SD b/c BM had applied for food stamps in the state that she lives in, then 2 days later she tells us that she moved to Our Town, but was staying in a pay-by-the-week hotel. She had repeatedly told us in the past that she has an uncle who lives in town who said BM could live with him for free while she looked for a job and her own place and that he could even help her find a decent job and housing....so why, if she moved here permanently, was she living in a hotel and not with uncle? And why had she just applied for food stamps in another state? And why was she trying to get us to allow SD to ride around with her for hours to "look for houses to live in"? Sounds like a load of bullshit and recipe for kidnapping to me/us.

Also, SD has her mother's last name. DH and I had offered SD to change her last name when I go to officially change my last name, but only if SD truly wanted to. We weren't going to pressure her at all. SD was on the fence about it until after our wedding ceremony. She came running up to us towards the end of the reception with a big smile on her face and said that she had decided that she does want to change her last name too Smile It was so cute. I think that being in the wedding and the excitement of it all changed her mind. I danced with her during the reception and we all had a great time. It's been two weeks now and she hasn't changed her mind, so I guess we'll all end up The DH's Last Name family Smile That's a project that I'll have to tackle in a couple weeks to a month from now though. Honeymoon won't be until October when my vacation days start over and we've got some more money saved up. One more thing to look forward to with my love.

That's all for now folks - hope all is well with yall!

She is much better off with us. She's been in the same house and school for two years in a row now. When she was with BM she went to 3 schools for first grade and at least as many (and actually more) houses in the span of a year. I believe she lived in 6 different houses in that time. Stability has really helped SD - she was really clingy, attention starved, and obnoxious when we got her. She's still pretty annoying, but that's her ADHD. We're in the process of getting her put on meds to help her focus.

It's great! Last night one of our friends referred to DH as my boyfriend, so I had fun correcting that one. I love being married and knowing that we're going to grow old together. We've been together for 3.5 years already, with many more to come :-)...and we're already experiencing the "for poorer" aspect of our vows, lol.
