O/T Juicer recipes

starfish's picture

at the advice from a former stepper, i bought a juicer... i received it last week and have used it once.. the carrot was overkill, the pineapple evened it out, but it has not motivated me to make any more juices....

and now i have a fridge full of beetroot, celery, cucumber, spinach, carrots, apples, plums just waiting to go into the compost bin..

so any help on tried & true recipes would be greatly appreciated..

ooh, thanks for posting this.

I've decided to turn over a new leaf and replace my daily 2 litre of coke with fresh juice.

What was the name of that juicer that was recommened - Vitajuice or something like that?

it was vitamix, but i didn't get that one (wasn't sure if i would stick with the program)..... i bought a less expesnive one that works great and the juice wasn't that bad, but the amounts were off, so by the time i added more stuff to even out the flavor, i had a shit load of juice to drink...

dh even had some and i could see us getting with the program, but i need some recipes from real juicer people.

i think it's a great thing. and just like our former member said pre-ppackaged stuff does taste funky after drinking a fresh juice. i made m&c for one of the skids and there was like one teaspoon left in the pot, so i ate it before washing and it tasted like shit (and i am a lifelonf m&c lover)..

so i believe there has to be something said for this.. plus i did a lot more online research before the purchase and many have talked about losing weight effortlessly, just by adding this to their diet... (that was the real motivator)

We baught one however I noticed that you need a lot of stuff to actually get juice from it or I am doing something wrong so I stopped using it.... Any suggestions?

that's what i had carrot & apple and something else i can't remember, but the carrot was way over the top.. so i added some pineapple and it was good...

i got mine at overstock.com, long time lover of this site and it was $64.99 + $2.95 shipping and it worked like a charm and easy clean up...

being health nuts, do you know people who have juicers and have recipes to share?

nomi, that's what i told dh: "if i use fresh juice as my vodka mixer it would be good for me!"

thank you i will try them..

i am also looking for juices that incorporate veggies & fruit.. the strong fruit juice is supposed to camouflage the veggie taste. I can totally see how it is doable.....

I have a decent juicer and I love carrot juice from it.

I was googling on vitamix - it looks like a blender? I think I'd have to buy one from the UK but the price is listed at £399??? It would have to go out to the garden or a local orchard and bring the veggies and fruits in for me to spend that much on it - or am I missing something?

Ooh, I'm so bookmarking this thread. I don't have a juicer yet but it's next in line for kitchen items FH and I want after new cookware.

i'll add grapferuit to my grocery list...

i just tried it again:

2 carrots
1 apple
1 cucumber
1/2 pineapple

not bad, but that carrot juice is strong.

but i was feeling slightly under the weather before i drank it and now i feel much better.... i seriously need to get with the juicing program.
