Short BM stories

My DH is looking to take a few classes at the community college to feel a little more proactive in life. I fully support him and offered to watch SS6 on the evenings of class.

BM is also taking classes at the same school and over the last several years has CONSTANTLY asked us to take SS more time so she can deal with her “heavy” course load. (How hard can 5 classes be when you don’t have a JOB? And you only see him 10 or so hours a week as it is!) Last night DH told her that he’s going to be taking some classes as well. Her first reaction: “At night?” Uhm, yes. Because I work during the day, idiot. Her second reaction “You can’t expect me to take SS more!!” DH snaps back “Oh, don’t you worry, Siferra offered. I would never expect you to watch him more so that I could take classes”

Snap!

Also, a few days ago DH briefly went into BM’s house to wait for SS to get ready to go. There were a lot of friends/family over, and one of them started a casual conversation with DH. DH mentioned that we were planning to go to Waffle House that evening, and the lady mentioned “Oh wow, he would eat something there?” DH says “uhm, yeah, he eats eggs, bacon, and waffles, etc.” The lady exclaims “That’s amazing! I’ve only ever seen him eat crackers! That’s all BM can get him to eat!”

Exactly. That’s because we have rules at our house. We established a looong time ago that if he didn’t eat his food he didn’t get any snacks. Turns out, he won’t starve himself. We almost never have food arguments with SS anymore and he’ll eat pretty much anything that’s reasonably kid-friendly (I don’t really try to force him to eat my pad thai, yknow? I choose my battles at spaghetti and basic veggies)

BM never ceases to amaze me.
