Cell phones ruin kids

I didn't like SD12 much before she got a phone but the phone has made her so much worse. Has anyone else noticed a major change when kids get a phone? Maybe some of this is preteen behavior but I've found it seems to revolve around her phone.

She claims her phone is always dead or BM always takes it away but I know that isn't true by just watching her use it. It's clear she spends a lot of time unsupervised watching videos, playing games, and doing social media.

She was pretty shallow before but now it's like she has no personality at all! All she does is repeat thing she's seen on social media that she thinks are cool. Like she was insisting she loves cranberry juice and wanted us to have some at the house for her. She didn't even drink any she just used it as a prop for that skateboarding guy cranberry juice meme.

Constantly taking selfies and posting them on some social media. Yet only replies to messages form DH maybe once every couple weeks? Straight up ignores them 90% of the time.

Lying. She lies about everything now. Her shoe size, her clothing size, what she wants to eat, that she's sooo busy. DH got her some clothes that she squeezed into and insisted were her size when they obviously weren't. She won't even admit her own shoe size and says she likes to wear 2 sizes too small because it makes her feet look cute. She lies about how much she loves to read and that she's playing math games on her phone (yeah right, Among Us is a math game). She even lied to our neighbor when they asked how often she came to our house even though we were right there. Everything that comes out of her mouth is a lie. It's like it's become compulsive.

She also gives up everything that seems the slightest bit hard. She even gave up on putting stick on nails because it was too hard. I swear she was more independent and less annoying when she was 6 and now she's 12.

All she does now is sit on the couch with the TV on, looking at her phone with a sour face of concentration liking and swiping and totally tuned out.
