You are here

You're harder on my kids than you are on your own.....................

I heard this over the weekend and just about BLEW my top.

The details are very long and don't really matter anyway, but when FH said this to me - my response was F**K YOU! That's right - I threw the F-bomb right out there. We were in the garage where we go to have our "private" talks.

First of all, the skids are 8 and 10. My daughter is 17. I NEVER have to remind her to brush her teeth, put on deodorant, take a shower, do her homework, clean her room, brush her hair, pick up her wet towel, get her dirty socks off the couch, hang up your jacket, put your plate in the sink, pick up that food you just dropped on the floor, clean up that spill you just made, don't put your dirty socks down IN the couch, don't throw/swing the EXPENSIVE WII remotes, turn the light off, turn the TV off, etc.......................

Get it? Needless to say, this is very similar to the response that FH got from me. I also reminded him that I am the one who is the room mom, reads to them every night from their favorite book series, brushes their hair, fixes their meals (most of the time), and ABSOLUTELY does all the dirty work, and THAT'S fine and dandy with these "parents".

I told FH that I am NOT treating his children any differently than I treated my own kids when they were at that age. And let's face it - the only reason he thinks I'm treating them "differently" is because I'm not their EFFING mother. IF I was the biomom, I'm pretty sure that FH wouldn't get up out of "his" chair to ask me to step into the garage so we could discuss my treatment of the children.

I can tell you ladies that I'm pretty dang sure that FH will NEVER say this to me again. If you ladies could have seen his "enlightened" face - IT WAS PRICELESS!

Also, just had to add. I don't use the F-bomb very often and I used that word so many times in our "discussion" that I believe FH's penis actually shrank a little. TURTLE EFFECT!!!!!

YES! YOU get it, don't you? My daughter is an honor roll student and always has been.
Does he think it's because she's brilliant? IT'S because I'M brilliant!!!!
Ha ha ha - seriously, she is pretty brilliant! But I take some of that credit. Smile

"the skids are 8 and 10" Choochoo is 7 and has to have CONSTANT reminders of al the things you listed...he is so immature I'm practically attached to his butt like a mommy sized barnacle just to get him to function properly.

SD is 11 and she needs to be reminded to turn off her light, turn off tv, put her plate in dishwasher, brush her teeth, brush her hair...hang up wet towel...basically most of the stuff you listed.

So I TOTALLY feel your pain dear! Yay for you for not using the F-bomb often...it's my fallback phrase I use it like everyday at least once in regard to SOMEONE! lol

You should have snapped a photo of that enlightenment! It's not often we get to see that Wink

First off - picture a deer caught in the headlights.

Then, picture a bassett hound with those eyes and that hanging head, and the tongue hanging out the side of the mouth.

Then picture this big, strong, burly man coming towards me with his arms out to hug me, and then backing off at the last second out of FEAR.

AWWW...poor guy!! lol, he doesnt know what hit him. But sounds like it was something that needed to be addressed and ironed out so I'm glad you got him to see things from the other side of the coin

Wow. Good for you! And good for DH for "getting it" and being "enlightened". Hopefully he remembers this and doesn't relapse into being forgetfull about that!
