Very interesting article.

This is why government has absolutely no business in parenting or in families. Some of the behavioral examples in this article would be resolved with a paddle hanging on the teacher's desk.

I firmly believe that this unearned esteem based everyone gets a trophy zero accountability system is why school shootings are more prevelent in the US when they never used to happen ever.

Enjoy.

All IMHO of course.

I feel for kids today in part because many of their parents don't parent correctly right from the beginning. Some start too late and others don't start at all.

If I'd mouthed off to any adult, whether they be my stepparent or a stranger on the street, I'd have gotten a smack in the mouth from Mom or Dad. I lost privileges as a kid. My school didn't hand out awards to those who slacked off.

No doubt that historically parents were much better at setting expectations, communicating those expectations and applying consequences for failing to meet those expectations. Particularly when it applied to kid behavior.

Disrespecting adults was not tolerated by my parents and heaven forbid if we were disprespectful to adults outside of our family. If we got at trouble at school it was 10X worse wehen we got home.
