Question: Insurance Cards

poisonivy's picture

Are there any instances where an employer or insurance company would mail insurance cards directly to BM. Is this normally how it works in most states?

I thought so, too Dabe, when we subscribed to our new insurance through Dhs work, we rec new cards for everyone. However, it dawned on me yesterday that no one gave BM a copy but she somehow is using the benefits already!

This is a bit strange to me....

at my old job, I had all five kids (bios and skids) on my plan. They mailed me extra cards which I in turn passed on to Bitter Madre. I am concerned as to how she would have gotten insurance cards without them having gone through us first.

I bet she called and said she is your dh's wife. My bm did that once! after we got a hold of the ins. company they knew we meant business.

Are they just copies of last years insurances cards if so she is probably using last years. We have not sent BM a new card in 4 years - and she has had no problem using it with SS - if the member number is the same then she can use last year's card.

No, this is brand new insurance with a different company and a different job.

My EX would never give me any info about insurance. So I called his employer and they actually sent me a card on the kids.

This was probably about 8 years ago.

I will have him go to his hr department and ask if this may have happened in our case, as well. But, she didn't even give us a chance to recive them and mail them to her if that's what she did.

Most insurance companies will send directly to the subscriber. And HR Departments will not give personal information to anyone other than the employee -- or at least they shouldn't. Now if she called the insurance company and explained to them that her XH had insurance coverage on her kids, they would give her some information so she could get medical services...

I wouldn't worry too much about it. DH should give her one of the cards and you all keep the other one and there should be no issues.

Yes, that's how we usually handle things, I was just worried when we discovered that she had the info BEFORE we forwarded it to her...and I am worried because if she can access our insurance information, what else might she be prying into?

she can call int insurance company up and get the ID #... all she needs is their ss#. I don't think they would mail the cards to her directly. but all she needs is the number and give it to the doctors. also, the doctors can call the ins.caompany as well. stating they have a pt in the office says they have such and such insurance and all they need is ss#

Agree with the above posters, she can call insurance company and either honestly, or dishonestly get the card id numbers. But she shouldn't be able to get a hold of more information than that.

Our BM decided to register on a website that was for our prescriptions and they wouldn't allow multiple registrations so I called them up and explained the situation. She could give me the User name but not the password. The user name was BM's email address. I figured out what her challenge question's answer was and reset her password.

I wonder if she ever found out why she could no longer access that site?

Lauren,

The SpermClan is too stupid to call on anything other than the school schedule for our son (my SS) so they can get their plan to manipulate visitation in order before the next visitation.

My insurance co will not release an insurance card to anyone not on my insurance. They send me the card and we give it to the kid prior to visitation.

We are in Tx also but recently moved back after 5yrs out of state. I do not know the law on this issue in TX.

In SpermLand it is legal for someone to sign me up as the responsible party for an ER visit because I am the primary on the insurance that covers my son (SS). We go it a major knock down drag out with the hospital on this issue when we got a bill for an ER visit that we did not even know about. I sent the hospital to the SpermClan but they nailed my credit report with a collection on the bill that my wife not I had no knowledge of, had not approved, etc....

This is another example of how screwed the system is.

Oh, we tried to haul the SpermIdiot to court. The problem in our case is the original CO said that the NCP is to reimburse the CP (my Wife) for half of uncovered medical expenses. Our attorney who loves to fry the SpermIdiots ass said that it was not worth the effort or money to fight with the hospital over it and that the wording of the CO would likely result in no repricussions for the SpermIdiot.

Best regards,
