Dh just called from work to tell me that stepmil wants us to meet them for bowling to celebrate sil23's birthday on Sunday. I said no.

Funny, no one acknowledged my birthday yesterday. Not even a FB message. No acknowledged bs1's birthday in May and no one from his family knowledge bs4's birthday in April.

They can all kiss my ass. That is all.

Yep. According to dh I am being petty and a bitch. Yet they are completely absolved of their crap the moment it happens and I am just supposed to pretend like everything is peachy.

So they blow off 3 birthdays and expect you to probably pay to celebrate SILs birthday? Umm no.
This is about when you tell DH that you are doing unto others as they do unto you. Obviously birthdays are not a big deal in his family so they will understand why you sit this one out.

*Steals SIL's wallet and buys 3 cakes* So that's 1 for Peanut and 2 for Sons.

*Starts passing out slices* Feel free to eat or fling at Peanut's DH, MIL, and SIL.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEANUT!!!!

(BMIL et al pull this stunt every year on my birthday. Then they are all pissed that I don't want to celebrate SIL's birthday or MIL's.)

I don't blame you at all!

My outlaws don't even know when my or my kids birthdays are. They even left my then DS7 and DD8(ages when it happened) out of the Christmas gift exchange. Of course I made sure they had something to open so my kids never knew the difference...but I did! The outlaws have probably only seen my kids 4 times in the last seven years, I always make sure they have something more exciting to do at their Dad's when we have to go. Wink

I don't have any birth kids with my husband, but if we did, I would be really pissed if they were not acknowledged the same way the other "real" kids are! Maybe they will get the hint if you don't go.

Don't let DH put that guilt on you. He just doesn't want to explain why you aren't going, because then the pressure is on him.

Outlaws suck!!! }:)

P.S
Happy Birthday to you and your babies!

You have just given me some courage to say NO too. From now on I am saying NO too. NO! to in laws get togethers. NO! to spending time with adult steps. I dont even care whether DH gets upset. I am not going. Hopefully soon I will no longer get invited. Now I am just awaiting the invites. Better start practicing saying NO in the mirror. NO NO NO NO NO NO! OMG I am losing my mind. This is what years of being stuck in a marriage with skids and in laws have done to me. Sad :jawdrop:

Your absolutely right!

Too many abusive people can make us go insane!

Remember, no one is worth your sanity!

Sorry to hear!
Happy Birthday!
I would have done the same thing and ignore ignore ignore!
If DH doesnt get it, thats his loss....they're his kids too!
