Dh just called me to tell me he spoke to ex-bil (his sisters ex husband) that the in-laws were talking shit about us. We've pulled back from fil and step mil since new years ( I have cut off contact completely) due to their toxic nature.

Apparently they were talking to ex bil about it and said that we are avoiding them because "they are on to us". On to us that we don't treat ss and sd right. Yep, that's it. Couldn't have anything to do with their behavior. Nope, that must be it...they are on to us.
