I hate football!

MommyMayI's picture

Do any of your dhs turn into complete sloths whenever football is on? Because mine does. I work my butt off to keep our house clean, take care of our kids, and work part time. Dh works very hard and will help do some very small things around d the house. That doesn't bother me. What bothers me is I spent the day taking care of our two kids and my ss and I still managed to clean the house, cook dinner, and help ss with homework even though dh was supposed to do it. Then I go out with some girlfriends for two hours and I come home and the house is completely upside freaking down! There are toys every where. I couldn't even walk into ss's room because he threw everything out on the floor. Dd2 and dd1 are still awake at 930 and neither took a bath. What is dh doing? Watching the freaking football game! I hate football!

LOL!!!! I know!!! DH works nights, he got home around 7am this morning, slept till 1:30pm, laid in bed on his tablet till 3pm, then went to the couch and turned on football. It's 10:32pm and he's still laying there. He is claiming to not be feeling well, but still. Tomorrow we spend half the day in the car to get SS13 and nothing will get done tomorrow either. We have a whole list of things that should/could/need to get done around here. As soon as we get home, the TV will be turned on to football. YIPPEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Is he playing fantasy football too? The laptop and tablet are opened up and cell phone is being blown up by his co workers shit talking each other and making all their trades. That doesn't bother me though, the laying in bed being a sloth, to laying on the couch all day being a sloth does. Then complaining Sunday night that he didn't get anything done and he didn't do the paperwork he needed and how he's so behind and blah blah blah. I am supposed to feel bad??? Get off the damn couch!!!!

Nope no fantasy this year. He has tried in the past but he works too much. I knew I shouldn't have gone out, but I NEVER do anything with my friends and I needed a mommy break. Haha. I guess they were watching themselves for two hours.

Argh Fantasy Football my pet hate. I swear for something that is meant to have "seasons" it lasts all damn year in my house. They message or email about the drafting to draft for the draft, hello this is insane. They have stats and spreadsheets and player trades. Never ending cycle of rubbish.

Being newly empty nested from 4 sports fanatics, who could recite player stats from age 4, I wished all my kids a happy kick off day and reveled in reruns of big bang theory.

I hate football. And I know way more about it than I want to.

I am proudly raising little girls who either "pfft" at the sport or chant "oh look it's daddy's goofy sport where the boys wear grlie shorts". My SO waddles off to his study, locks the door and watches quietly there }:)

This makes me feel so lucky. I grew up in a no sports house and my DH only watches the odd international game and major athletics meets. I'm spared the agony of the football (soccer) season which lasts for 9 months of the year from mid August 15 to mid May 16... Never ending!!!

Thank goodness Tuff, I was worried there. Being the only persson at my gutter party is very lonely Blum 3

Sassy we all love a good tease, but come on now. Am I supposed to google that? Is it safe?

Tuff Noogies's picture

yeah i figured, that's why i asked if u went for nolan *or* ryan!! Blum 3
nolan is an awesome name!

i confess. i'm right there alongside dh on the couch, discussing plays and yelling at the screen when there's a shitty call or stupid move....

growing up, our house was THE place to be on superbowl sunday. but my favorite was always baseball - i would watch every yankee game possible. then i moved - cant watch my beloved yankees here (although i'm kinda ok w/ that, they've pretty much sucked since 'the kids' took over the franchise. assholes. at least george knew what the hell he was doing. oh, and i fucking despise a-rod.) BUT - dh has me now hooked on college football, i actually enjoy that far more than NFL.

Yep, Chef is a football MANIAC!! That's why I do not want to get NFL Sunday Ticket this year. NOTHING will get done. He spent ALL.FRIGGIN.SUMMER hauling, splitting and stacking firewood (we have a propane forced air furnace btw and propane has been relatively INexpensive).

Our two wood stoves have NOT been properly maintained and going on a downhill slide over the past two years. The smaller snowblower has NOT had it's tires replaced (I purchased tires for it on July 2014) and it needs work in general.

A significant amount of trenching needs to be done with the brand new tractor and backhoe I bought Chef (which he promptly loaned to his sponge brother and son).

I need to get crusher run for the driveway. Did I mention I do all the lawn and garden work?

Yet if I get NFL ST, he will sit there like a zombie for hours. A LOUD zombie, screaming and hissing at the television, often standing in front of it as though HE were playing (he played in high school and took it VERY seriously--obviously HIS parents gave him the pipe dream of an athletic scholarship and playing for the major leagues)

I despise football. Wasn't brought up with sports in general outside of hockey.

I love football. I'm really into professional football. My DH is into college FB - especially SEC FB.

I went to a university that didn't play major football so I got really into football living in cities with pro football teams. I've lived in 6-7 cities with pro teams and at least 5 of them were Super Bowl winners.

My DH went to college where the team has been winning or competing for national championships for decades. He's never lived in a city with a pro team. Hence his preference for college and mine for pro FB.

I can't stand basketball of any sort. Maybe it's because in recent years so many of the players have been just total jerks. I know that's true in pro football too, but with the helmets on and lots of people of the field I am not looking at them in the face like with BB.

I like college baseball but only in person. We go to the SEC baseball tournament almost every year.

ETA: My dad knew nothing about football. He saw an interception one time and seriously said "oh that guy caught it by mistake."

Well I live in Alabama, so football is pretty much God here. I graduated twice from the University of Alabama, so I can't end this post without a big ole ROOOOOLLLLLLL TIIIIIIIDE!!!!

Anyways, I am also a teacher at a high school, so I also love high school football. DS14 is on the football team as well, so football probably takes up like 15 hrs a week or more for me between practices and games. And then I spend Saturdays watching the Crimson Tide as well as all the other teams in the SEC.

I hate DH's "car shows", "pawn shows" "storage shows" and American Pickers. Hate the mess.

Tuff Noogies's picture

i GOTTA ask. are they elephants? or war eagles? or crimson tide? i mean, what the hell is up with that?

ps. CHOMP CHOMP, baby. }:)

GRITSinAL's picture

You won't catch me saying "War Eagle" lol.

Oh well, they are both elephants AND Crimson Tide. We do have weird traditions here Wink

GRITSinAL's picture

"Hi my name is Lola. ROLL TIDE... Nobody else is close...Saban is God... 15 goin on 16...Some of my hobbies include worshiping Nick Saban, watching the Tide roll, and gorging myself with large amounts of food. If I haven't already said it, roll tide roll...roll tide."

That's kind of the normal conversation around here, lol

Tuff Noogies's picture

oh im quite familiar with those types of conversations - my only problem is, i cannot STAND the favorite here (except for one player). i try not to trash talk too much tho', my team's had a lot of trouble lately.

I am a basketball fan! During the playoffs the TV is on full blast but I still have to cook, clean, and take care of the kiddos.
