O/T: A few of my favorite things

momjeans's picture

1) For my fellow Hugh Laurie fans - there’s a great show on Hulu called Chance. Based off of a book of the same name. Only 2 seasons, but it has a great suspenseful noir feel.

2) Wine, of course. Espiral Vinho Verde. It’s CHEAP and reminds me of summer. At a low 9% and a lot of sparkle you can easily enjoy the whole bottle, or cut it with sparkling apple or cranberry cider and add some fresh fruit. So yummy. I get it at Trader Joe’s.

3) Trader Joe’s Vegan Kale, Cashew, and Basil Pesto. It came out late last year and it’s my latest new food find favorite.

What are your favorite things lately? New show? New beverage? Recipe?

MJ, I tried to get into Chance but going slow....maybe I will give it another "chance" ha ha...

New favorites....I have always liked hot tea but am more of a coffee fan. I started buying San Francisco Bay coffees and they are incredible! So far, my favorite is Gorilla Coffee Java Love...

Back to the hot tea...starting trying some on Adagio and I AM HOOKED!! I did not even have coffee this morning, just a fabulous Irish Breakfast...others that shine are Golden Monkey and Pu'erh Dante. I have been herbal tea for so long that I forgot how much a good, solid cup of black tea can taste. If you are a pu'erh fan, also consider one that I found on Amazon called Pu'erh Tea Ball Cakes from Solstice Tea Traders...just excellent!!

Ah, too funny. The first few episodes were slow moving, but if you can hang tough the last half of the first season is pretty exhilarating.

Im always open to trying new coffee - I will definitely check that out!

Adagio Tea - that’s all we drink in our house! I haven’t bought anything different for for the last 6 years. It’s the best.

Current Favorites:

Shows: The Originals (Daniel Gillies is my new hall pass...swoon!)
Drink: 19 Crimes wines...not just good wine, but fun to watch the labels
Food: Homemade french bread...I've been on a baking kick and it's so darn good!

Oh goodness... Daniel Gillies. That jawline. That face. Wooooo. He’s a gorgeous human being.

I’m a sucker for neat and creative wine labels. I need to check it out.

Homemade French bread is heavenly!

If you have Netflix, there’s a show called Chef’s Table. The episode about Nancy Silverton, the pastry chef and founder of La Brea Bakery, is nothing short of amazing.

ugh im on a starch free diet so i wont torture myself. But there is a nice bread recipe on King Arthur flour site under NOLA french bread.
And here comes Mardi Gras.

No starch. Brutal. Are you feeling positive effects from it?

King Arthur flour is definitely popular here in the south. I will check out their website. I’m sure it’s easy enough, huh?

That’s on my “to watch” list!

Wine... LOVE, of course.

Mmmmm. Delish. I need to purchase the thingy that makes zoodles. What / where do you recommend?

Getting back into reading this year. I mean...I've always been a reader, but sometimes I get too busy. I signed up for Kindle Unlimited and am working to make it a priority.

I've read / listened to some pretty pulpy suspense books so far this year, but also 2 Joan Didion books (so good!) and this book my DH got me about the making of the dictionary (Word By Word...sounds boring, but really interesting).

Also halfway through 'The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck' and I highly recommend. It's a fast read and incredibly eye-opening. The title is a little misleading...it's not about becoming apathetic...it's more about developing self-awareness at a deep level. The premise is that we have a limited number of fu*ks to give in life, so this is the only way to know where to spend them.

It's the first book I've read that's both profane and profound. I'll report back when I finish it.

I’ve always been a reader, too, it’s just a matter of finding the time.

I love pulpy suspense books. Thanks for the recommendation.

And that book is on my goodreads list. Totally going to treat myself and buy it after our move is complete.
