Has this woman's work been discussed on here? She came to our area to present recently, and DH and I went. It was really interesting and I would recommend her book as a resource to anyone who's looking for info on our subject of the stepfamily...
"Surviving and Thriving in Stepfamily Relationships: What Works and What Doesn't"
Anyone else familiar with her work and ideas?

Tell us more about it. Post some of her ideas and comments. And, no, I've never heard of her.

The thing that stuck with me from her talk was that she does these diagrams that show relationships of the whole family unit- exes, bms, etc....everyone is represented and the relationships between members as well. It actually helped me to have a visual representation of my whole mess!! Like a zigzag line between a sm and her skid would represent a strained relationship. It was only an hour-and-a-half talk, and it was to promote her book that I wrote the title of in the first post. Just really a collection of what she has learned in all her years of doing this. I intend to buy her book but it's $42 hardcover so...haven't yet. When I do I'll know more about her theories. It is interesting that she has been a sm in two stepfamilies now; her first remarriage did not work. She uses tons of personal anecdotes.
