Great parenting dh.

So we just went out to eat and sd would not eat her dinner. That's because she thinks she can come home and eat whatever she wants. (She's almost 4) well we get home and he pulls out two big bags of candy and shows her and starts to give her some. I'm like really????!!!! This is why she won't eat what's cooked or when we go out. Plus it's her bed time. Of course I become the mean ole stepmom blah blah. Then she screams and cries cause she wants candy. I could hear him babying her when he put her to bed. Now he has an attitude with me. Ugh now I'm in a super bad mood.

Well SOMEONE has to be the grown up! Be the evil stepmother. You get a far more interesting script!

I agree he is being a terrible parent. But...shy not let him parent his kid the way he wants to parent his kid. Especially since he is giving you crap right now

I would tell him this...

DH, since you don't like the way I try to parent, you do it now on your own.

I agree, however I'm a sahm right now so I end up having her alone sometimes. I don't want to be stuck with the outcome of his crap parenting. He was just talking the other day about how bratty sd was becoming. I told him it's because of things like this!! Sd can be a sweet kid, but it's obvious she's being turned bratty by getting her way all the time. Oh and guess what? She got up this morning with an attitude change and said she was going to eat all her food today and she didn't even try getting into the candy. Amazing what being a parent does. :/

Kind of stuck for the moment because I have a baby. I'll be getting a job as soon as I can find some childcare that isn't outrageous. I love being with my baby, but I am used to being more independent and having a career. Hopefully it will work out eventually. For now I'll cherish my time with bd and hope I rub off on sd!!! Lol

Is your DH a practical man? Remind him of the realities of poor eating habits: weight gain, poor teeth, illness. Not only do those things hurt his daughter but are going to cost him MONEY in the long run.

And if he is already whining now at age 4 about her behavior and he won't correct her then copy and paste some stories from the teenager forum on this site and email them to him so he can see that kids without rules or structure don't magically learn to behave at some point. Like puppies, they need to be trained. Sounds a little detached and cold but true.

Hang in there. I bet you got a grin when she got up and followed the rules you set down Smile
