Their own biological children. That's why "step parenting" is hearts and unicorns for them. They aren't hands on with anybodys kids including their own. That would be the nanny's job, imagine how great step parenting would be for all of us if we had his and hers nannies?

Oh I agree but this is what made me cringe.

"When [Catherine] came into our family it could so easily have gone another way. You hear stories all the time about the younger stepmother pushing away the kids from a previous marriage," Cameron told the Daily Mail. "But from the first day I met her, she said, 'I want us to be friends, and I want you to know that you are a huge part of our family and are welcome any time.' She has been as good as her word ... I’ve never seen my father as happy as he is with her. It’s cool to see."

The bold sentence. Maybe because I'm 9 years younger then SO that line had an extra annoyance to it for me. "You hear stories all the time" ****eye roll****

Singing MY praises in group "family" texts that's when I peaced out of them. Her saying "Noway is just such a blessing to OUR family and so amazing" I thought "as true as that may be, how the hell would she know one D@&$ thing about me? Oh that's right, the the adult skids..... that's when I was like "yeeeea I don't do this fakery, peace out y'all" this woman was vile to my DH and her children during their divorce, I want nothing to do with her, and her kids can play the mother of the year award with her all they want without me being a witness. The way they treat my husband their dad tells me everything I need to know about all of them and where they learned it from.

Absolutely! How easy would it be if you had paid help and tons of money. I would be sending the kids with the driver and a bodyguard to some time consuming hobby all the time.

So remember they are paid ACTORS. I mean I can act sweet enough that my DH and SD don't know how I really feel and I'm a good enough stepmom but these people are PROFESSIONALS.

Mainstream media holding out unattainable fake goals for the "masses" at least Brady Bunch got one thing right, the spouses of both of them were no where to be seen, thereby not putting added tension on their "bunch" but they did have live in "help" and that pretty much says it all too.

Personally, though, the least of them was the one you found the worst.

Its all how we are doing in this stepworld, that shapes our reactions to other steps. This article had ALL the tropes: you must love them like your own, you must love the other bio parents, you must not overshadow the exes, you must fight and love hard and that love will conquer all...

Oh 100%. I think I found that one ao cringeworthy was because he was basically (the stigma) saying "younger" stepmoms are just a**holes and control dad. That's what I took out of it.
