can we live in filth?

I am really wondering how some of you SM's get through the day with the gross things we put up with. My BD's are clean children don't get me wrong here they still need to be reminded to pick up their clothes from the bathroom floor, told to clean their room, and sometimes they need me to tell them wash your hands or please clean your face. But, the issues that I we have with SS5 are pushing me to the limit. He has been living in a room with urine soaked carpet for the past few months because I thought I smelled urine in his room but he denied having any accidents and of course I didnt see anything how could I really know? So what is the solution here he's in therapy, and I rented a carpet cleaner. He's pooped in the tub and bathed in it left the poo in the tub to finish his bath then came and sat on my couch and sat on his bed before we noticed the poo in the tub so there was poo germs transferred to my couch and his bed and now he's been living in this room with urine! I am so upset about this because it could have made my entire family so sick. He has a cough that he hasn't been able to get over and I am sure this is why because he has been living in this filth. If our baby would have been a boy my husband would have expected the baby to share a room with SS, how can we expose our newborn to all of this. These aren't the only instances of nasty behavior from SS just the most recent. I have no idea how many times he has worn pee clothes around the house sitting on all the furniture. He won't tell us when he does these things and he wont even admit to having had an accident when he is dripping wet with pee. We have talked to him and explained to him that it can make him sick to do these things over and over it doesn't phase him. How can I keep my house clean and sanitary for everyone if I don't know every time he does these things? DH is really trying with here but nothing is getting through to SS

We have told the pediatrician he referred us to the psychologist and he is starting therapy there isn't anything wrong with him physically. He is in kindergarden he had only 1 accident this year at school. DH has been handling all of this on his own SS responds negatively to me no matter what I try.

but he avoids contact with us most of the time if we let him he will stay in his room 24/7 he only comes out for meals or if we put cartoons on the tv in the living room

I thought there was something to that too. I had a talk with DH maybe 6 mos ago and explained to him that he needed to take up extra time with SS and he has he takes SS with him every time he goes somewhere and anytime he is out in the yard (he's a big outside person) SS is out there with him for yard work, messing around with the 4-wheelers or dogs that's their guy time but DH always tries to wander off and play by himself
