Here's how to make SM look exceptionally evil...

mama_althea's picture

...have SD, a seven-year-old girl who has recently been displaced from her home with BM into your home after a series of semi-traumatic events, ask her Dad (your SO) if her indoor/outdoor un-neutered male cat can come to live at your house, and THEN...get this...have Dad (your SO) turn his head in your direction and say "Well that's up to insert-name-of-SM", knowing full well that it is a practical and physical impossibility to add one more cat to the household.

F. That. Noise.

(This SM did get an apology from SO for that Real Life Scenario, but still...you can't un-say something like that to a 7-year-old)

Oh I weaseled out of it...hemmed and hawed just enough that I was able to sound like the only thing preventing it was some vaccines, tests, and a surgery. In the meantime, the poor kitty disappeared. Then I think it came back...but she didn't ask again.

I just think putting someone on the spot like that is the issue, no matter who the kid is...I figured this site is chock full o' people who have been put on the similar spot and could relate

After DH let the steps stay up all night last night, rendering me sleepless and 8 months pregnant, I told him I needed to take a nap during lunch. We go home to feed them and I go retire to the bedroom. He allowed to the scream, run, act a fool, until I finally gave up and told him I was going back to work. At that point he then says "Okay everyone go upstairs! The baby needs to take a nap!" Which we all know means "SM says everyone stop having fun!" Rude.

My DH done this with the dog. When DH and BM seperated, she decided to keep the dog, right after we were married she decided that she didn't want the dog. She called constantly trying to get him to come get the dog. We soon found out the dog had fleas and her house was infested with them. Since the dog was an indoor dog, DH told BM that I simply would not allow the dog at my home, inside or out. Needless to say I was on cloud 9 laughing my ass off, and BM hung up on him after that.
