Here's my last-stitch effort with BM.
SS6 went to Sunday School with one of his friends last Sunday, and he LOVED it. SD8 also expressed an interest to me about wanting to go to church more often. BM does not attend church, and we go once every few months to MIL’s ‘if you don’t go to THIS church, you will burn in HELL’ church. I decided that it would be an awesome idea to sign both of them up for Vacation Bible School at the church/school that I used to attend. I ran the idea by DH, and he seemed to think that the kids would like it and benefit from it. Here’s the crazy part – I told DH that I would call BM and run the idea by her. Since this has to do with God, I figured that maybe would could at least be civil. Who knows .. maybe it’s wishful thinking. LOL

I hope you leave out the part
I hope you leave out the part about it being where you use to attend. Just mention that you found a nice bible school (not holly rollers, no burning in hell for not being perfect) and since the kids love church so much DH thought it might be a nice choice for them...and then end it with...what do you think? Be open to her response though. (Especially if it is civil...maybe not so open if she is rude)
I am not a christian but BM of SD5 is and SD5 attends church when she is with BM and doesnt when she is with us. It can be as simple as that.

This is what I sent to her:
"BM, I wanted to run the idea by you of us possibly keeping the kids next week (or at least part of the week). I know that SS6 loved going to Sunday School last week & I was thinking that it would be good for them to go to VBS next week. It's from 9a-12p, M-F. I was going to volunteer, so I will be there with them. Let me know! Thanks!"
I'm looking forward to seeing whether or not she will reply to me, or if she'll just call DH (this is her usual option).
