OMG!! I know right!! SS17 wanted to take driver's ed with DH and I said, he's smoking pot, not going to school and you want to reward him with driver's ed. SS17 started screamin, DH went deer in the headlights, and I was like WTF!!

You tell DH in private that shit has to stop. It is disrespectful for you and intolerable. It is a dealbreaker!!

This is exactly what happens in my house. If I try to direct or discipline his son, my husband overrides everything I say and we start to argue. Then my husband gives me the silent treatment and spends the entire day with is son and we argue for two days. What child wouldn't start arguments when they know the end result is they have Dad to themselves for the next couple of days??

My Christmas at my family's was ruined this year because the day before we were leaving (it's out of town), my ll year old step-son threw a pile of coats that I had just hung up all on the floor. When I told him to pick them up, he said it wasn't him. I KNEW it was him because I had just hung them up and no one else had been in that room but him (he was looking for his ski pants). It caused a huge fight between my husband and I as his son cried and screamed that I pick on him and that he didn't do it. My husband then announced that he was not going to my parents on Christmas Day. They had bought presents for his children and were very happily expecting us. We argued about this the entire night and then the next day, my husband decides at the last minute that he's going.

After Christmas dinner my step-son came up to me and whispered, "Sorry, I lied. It was me who made that mess". My husband was watching this interaction but never brought it up. I finally brought it up that his son had lied and asked what he was going to do about this since this had ruined my Christmas. His response was, "Just forget about it; move on. It's Christmas".

How do you deal with this without losing your mind?? If anyone knows, please tell me because I can't do this anymore. These kinds of things happen every day in my house. It's a constant battle of his son lying or over-reacting and I am always the bad one.

My ss used to love to cause fights he thought he'd get me to leave, well it ended up with him leaving My DH got sick of his behavior and saw that when my daughter misbehaved I disciplined her the same as I disciplined SS that along with the mounting debt to buy youngest SS's love caused DH to stop fighting with me and start fighting with his own son who was causing the problems, hope others husbands come to the same conclusion my husband did, that skids will pull whatever they want to get whatever they want regardless of how it affects anyone else.

Yep! It is true - it is a talent and if they could get paid for this I could retire. They start a little thing which gets us going and then they disappear.....This stears them clear of any danger!! it has been done to use time and time again. I see it but daddy has a hard time thinking that the kids would do SUCH A THING. He is really blind. He says that it's sad that I think they would do stuff like this. :jawdrop:
He has never had step anything so I can see how it is hard to believe stuff like this actually happens.

To me, this is a deal breaker! If hubby is undermining your parenting and not backing you up? I'd be done.

I divorced BS's own father for this! Well that and the verbal abuse that was rampant from him!
