The Bill Arrived

Well we got the bill from the attorney in the mail yesterday. So far we have spent $3420.54 and what did we get for it? The judge gave DH the tax exemption every other year, which we already had according to the divorce decree. The judge basically upheld it. Dh's wages will not be garnished, he was late once, in January, when she was out of state for the month and the check was waiting on her when she got back. All of BM 's contempt charges against DH were dropped. And of course nothing was done to BM for her outrageous violations of the Joint Parenting Agreement all of which were well documented. She even admitted to them on the stand and how did she get punished? The judge ordered mediation.......an added expense for us. We are going to have the attorney draw up a motion to drop all DH's contempt charges against her for the violations and refuse the mediation. No mediation is necessary, DH spents $$$$ just getting an agreement for the JPA and now we have to mediate that? No Way!!! As far as Alec Baldwin writng a book on the injustices father's have to deal with in the court system, I'm glad he is. Someone needs to draw attention to it. Parental Alienation is a very real thing, DH has experienced it first hand. And unlike Alec Baldwin we don't have $1.2 million to fight this kind of thing. Even he as a celebrity is treated with the same indifference as every other divorced father out there. What he said to his daughter wasn't right but I sure understand where his frustration came from. And as he said on "the VIew" a lot of men are not lucky like him to have the resources to continue to battle BM. Many have to walk away because the BM and the courts have reduced them to being nothing but a sperm donor.

AMEN! Alec should start a national support group...i'm sure TONS of men nation wide would join...maybe pool their resources (not financial so much as social resources) to get some things done...legislation passed or something!

I totally agree. If dad refuses to pay CS, then it's off to jail he goes. If mom refuses visitation, though, nothing. It's a crime. Child Support should include ALL types and manner of support, not just financial. It should include emotional support, family support, guidance, parenting time. It takes more than money to raise a child. It totally burns my ass that these judges don't see that spending time with their fathers is just as important to children as money. I personally hope that my skids' BM is putting aside some of that hefty CS payment for all the therapy the kids are going to need someday because she made them think they've been abandoned by their father. There are plenty of support groups for alienated fathers out there, which is great, but until we start passing some laws in this country and getting the judges to uphold them, we can just expect more of the same.

Hobbling down off my soapbox, feeling slightly woozy, just started South Beach today and NEED BADLY a Coke and a Snickers. Please, anyone, send me a cyber Coke and Snickers. I'm in a baaaaaad way! Sad

Why is it that the Judge don't throw the book at BM's or make them pay for not complying? We also spent about the same and basically my DH got his hands slapped for DARING to complain she is not complying.
