Who could have known that heading to a grocery store to spend an abyssmal amount of $$ would end in making a new (step mom!!)friend??

It was Walmart, with an incredibly LONG check out line... and a woman in front of me with multiple teenagers calling her by her first name. (First clue this was another step mom).

She and I got to talking, one of her skids interupted and man she has them trained, one look and the kid shut up, waited until we were done talking then said: "Excuse me, (insert new friends name here) is it ok if I run over to the restrooms?"

Three seconds later skid3 showed up and started talking/interupting. I tried the look and she was immune. New friend fired off the look at her, skid3 SHUT UP! Not another word said!!

I exchanged phone numbers with new friend, we have been texting back and forth last night and this morning. Very similiar circumstances, we both have 2 bio's and 4 skids. Her skids are a year or two younger than mine but still all teengers.

We have declared Friday night ladies night, meeting at a coffee bar to exchange horror stories! And tips: I NEED to learn that look! Man anything that can make skid3 shut up is worth learning!!

Don't be jealous right now... my SS doesn't require "the look". He just KNOWS better LOL. I have surpassed the need for "the look" and moved on to complete fear regardless of my facial expression. }:) Or maybe it's love and respect. Not sure which it is, don't really care, all I know is... the kid is well behaved for me. I don't question it. Wink

My BFF is a stepmom as well and I can't tell you how much I love and appreciate her. She GETS IT and we keep each other from stepping off the cliff!

My BFF is THE BM that we allllll love to complain about. Sad it's hard to be her friend.

Congrats on a friend that understands this hell. I have a couple, but at different phases in life. I have one that makes it look so easy, until her Adult SD got married last year and then BM became a pain.

I want to learn the look too and I am jealous, I wish I had a SM friend IRL back then. It would have made it so much easier. Congrats! Smile

My son knows that LOOK, even at 27 almost 28 he knows the LOOK. He knew the LOOK at 3!

Skids don't have a clue, I use it and SS13 gives me his IDGAS look back at me. Thank you very much BM! If she would actually parent they would know the LOOK and respect the LOOK.
