After Christmas emotional drain

JojoSnyder's picture

I know I went a lot over board buying Christmas gifts, but I felt like the boys deserved a nice Christmas.  After opening presents we went to my boyfriends parents house to open more gifts.  When one of the twins started complaining about how one of his friends brothers, who’s 7 has a better phone than him.  I have to tell you I almost lost it, how ungrateful.

Now after spending a decent amount of time thinking about it and now seeking other opinions.  I’ve decided I will not be going above and beyond to satisfy these boys needs.  It is hard though and I feel so guilty.  Honestly though it feels like the only way I’m going to get them to understand that they need to appreciate things a little more.

Thanks for listening

Jojo

Welcome to steptalk.

Yep, it's a new stepmom mistake to give give give, do do do.... you'll learn.

Welcome to STalk. Twoviewpoints is right. It's not up to you to give your boyfriend's kids a nice Christmas. That responsibility falls on the parents.

Believe me when I say that your time and gifts will be unappreciated, but plenty of spoiled kids see it as their due.

a nice Christmas did not include, the best,  most expensive, cell phone in the USA. With a few upgrades included.

That why SP do not try.  They can never do it right.  Next Christmas give then two paper cups and a string
