OT rant: over 50 RSVPs didn't show up to the shower

I love dogs's picture

My dad offered to pay for it (about $5000) and we had so many empty tables and extra food. Thank goodness my dad is well off because the money didn't matter to him but DH and I were disappointed. Yes, we had fun, but even one of our close friends made a comment that when the bar tab ran out ($1000) that people started leaving.

SD and Thanksgiving

I'm working today, thank goodness, because SD and DH got into it last night. SD is the pickiest eater I've ever met and refused to eat at my dad's house last night besides a small amount of ham, a roll, and pumpkin pie. When we told her to get ready to go, she did but we ended up visiting at least another 20 minutes. She then begins to whine that she's hungry and wants to go home.

OT- Parents: am I being a snot?

DH and I picked out a crib, dresser, end table, and diaper changing rack that tops the dresser for the baby on our registry from Buybuy Baby. The crib converts into a toddler bed then a twin or full so our daughter will have it for at least 7-8 years, probably 10 until she needs a queen. If we didn't get it for the shower, we were going to buy it ourselves because we really like the design. It's painted gray with a pretty wood grain.

SD is attending the shower next weekend

And DH didn't even have to sit down to have a "talk" with BM about it or whatever "parenting page" she wanted to be on. He took SD's headphones to her on Tuesday and walked to the door because it was cold outside. BM told him that SD could attend the party and that was that. Wow, BM, so it was unnecessary being so difficult about it?? Oh yeah, you've never been anything BUT difficult.

Update to BM wanting "all of the adults to talk"- very long

I must be a glutton for punishment because I can't seem to disengage. I want a positive relationship with SD and assured her today that I don't want her to feel replaced by the baby in January. I got paid today and we both need haircuts (I have been the one getting her hair done for a couple of years because we had a good hairdresser but she moved recently). I also had to get some things from Wal-Mart so I let SD pick out some dog toys and nail polish.

Skids and crying to mommy

It's been a difficult week with SD if it isn't obvious. She had a sore throat this morning that she's apparently had for a few days but didn't say anything until today. We gave her daytime alka seltzer cold this morning and cough drops. She came home with a mask on and her history teacher who I guess works part time at a hospital said he thinks it's strep throat.

Just done being a SM

Sorry for being a blog hog but I am so frustrated with steplife I want to explode today. As I posted before, SD is failing math (with an 18%) and is refusing to do work in class so DH got extra homework from the teacher- as punishment. She is at least 2 weeks behind because of the trip to Ireland and always needs help with her homework but never wants to put in any effort because she doesn't understand.

BM wants "all of the adults to talk first"

About Thanksgiving weekend. DH texted her and said that they need to figure out Thanksgiving because our baby shower which is 150+ people has been planned for over a month and it is his "week on" from their verbal agreement. BM decided that she could just inform him of their Polar Express trip and take away his holiday all together.

SD wants to be at the baby shower.. And has 18% in math

DH told me that SD told him that BM is mad at her and gave her the silent treatment for wanting to attend our shower Thanksgiving weekend instead of take the trip to ride the Polar Express. SD even brought it up to me at dinner and asked "don't I need to be there?" because she hasn't seen some of her friends (our friend's kids) in over a year and invited some school friends also. Plus it's her baby sister's party and my family from out of town will be here.
