OT-GED getting one in Texas, what are the procedues

herewegoagain's picture

Does anyone know how getting a GED works? It seems that you just need to sign-up to get a GED, but in order to do so, there is nothing that specifically states that you must be doing X work, showing work towards completion, etc...

Can someone say they are going to get a GED, they are WORKING towards a GED and NOT have to show ANY proof of doing so?
Can someone just say they are going to get a GED and wait 4 years to get one?

SIgh...

What happens when child support is supposed to end upon graduation from high school...sigh

I went to our community college and got mine. As far as child support goes mine stopped coming when my daughters graduated. Unless the parent owes arrears, or it has been put in the papers that the parent pays till child completes college.

Once the child obtains a GED or turns 18, CS is supposed to be stopped unless there are additional clauses in there stating otherwise.

A GED is simple to get. I went to an alternative HS (Winfern) that offered the GED testing, paid & took the tests over 2 days...& done. There are prep classes available through SOME high schools & community colleges but then there would be proof of that.

I'm guessing that you have a Skid who is "working on obtaining a GED"? If the "kid" is over 18, I'd demand proof that he/she is actively enrolled in a GED class, otherwise, the turd is a drop out, end of story.
