Update from yesterdays panic rant about SO's finances

After reading your much needed advice and words of wisdom, last night I sat SO down and said to him that i've been really worrying about how we will cope when we move in together because of our (his) financial situation.

After a lengthy discussion, we have written a 5 point plan of action of how to get his finances in order, how we can both save money and most importantly how he is going to pay off his tax bill before we move.

He is starting the ball rolling today by calling the CSA to get his maintenace payments amended so that he is paying BM what she is due (as the government calculates it within his means) - rather than paying the figure BM has demanded of him.

With the extra money from this (approx £100 a month) he is going to put that towards regular payments to pay off his Tax bill which should improve his credit rating too. He is also going to call the tax office to find out the exact figure he owes (estimated about £3,000) and how much he can pay back monthly. -Basically pull his finger out and start sorting his life out!!

So at the moment at least I am pretty satisfied that he knows what he needs to do in order for us to move forward in life. He has assured me that he will do it, and it should all be in motion by the end of next week. (fingers crossed)
