O/T - Chase Bank or Wells Fargo Bank

So as many of you know this coming May, DH and I will be moving from the East Coast to the West Coast. We are going to be opening a joint bank account, but we will also be keeping our individual accounts for at least a year. So we would like to open a joint account prior to the move so that the money we have been saving specifically for moving expenses can be readily available and easy to keep track of as we start paying for services/items related to the move. So we looked up what banks are over on the West Coast where we will be and are also here so we can begin to set all that up. I know a lot of banks you can just set a joint account up online, but call me old fashioned, I do like having the option to go in the bank in person if need be.

So anyway on to my question does anyone use or like Chase Bank or Wells Fargo Bank?

I love wells Fargo and have had it for over twenty years. Good luck on your move. We are trying to move but bm is making it hard.

Thank you! Only reason we can move and BM cannot interfere is because it is in their PSA that got put into their CO that neither will stop the other from moving and they will be doing an out of state custody schedule. The part that sucks about that is we ended up getting the summers, every other Christmas, and every spring break because BM would not agree to being the non-custodial parent. The part that is a saving grace especially since COVID happened is that now we do not have to go back to court to move like we would have if it went to trial as the moving part would not of been a part of the CO.

Good luck with getting to move, I wish you the best!

We have Chase and have had no issues. Personally I prefer credit unions - no fees. But Chase has been fine.

yeah originally we were going to stick with USAA, but actually don't like USAA after some issues

I would stay away from Wells Fargo but I was part of that whole fraud thing that went down a few years ago.

I would suggest USAA. He is still able to join, if he hasn't, they have the best rates for insurance around and are just in general a great bank and easy to work with for loans, credit cards, checking, etc. I have had an account with them for almost 20 years now.

he was paying more for insurance than I was paying with Progressive so we switched him over to my insurance policy after we got married and now we are saving $100 with him on my policy. The reason we don't like USAA is because of the insurance plus there not being a physical USAA for us to go into.

Don't throw away the chance to get USAA insurance yet. Insurance rates vary with the area you are located. While USAA is more expensive now, that may change when you move. It may be wise to keep that option open.

We would never use Chase or Wells Fargo.

Navy Federal and USAA

USAA is hicking UP their prices. Matter of fact I am currently making some adjustments today with them.

Long time policy holders here.

Now that I am thinking about it ---OMG do you really want to move to the West Coast? No doubt you have your reasons.

I imagine you are super excited to get out of where you are. Good times to think about what your  future.

I have USAA and a local bank. Like you, I like having a local bank that I can actually go in to if I need it. I would wait until you move and find a truly local bank, rather than a large corporate bank. I used one that is local to our region, they have several local locations, but are not national. I would stay far away from Wells Fargo, what they did during the big scandal was awful.

I abhore the big banks.

DH and i have individual Credit Union accounts (with ones we each prefer) and we have a third one local to our town for our joint expennses.
