You can't ever compete with the crazy

I have known my DH since highschool. We dated briefly in grade 10 and remained friends. We both married other people, he had SD16 with BM and divorced. We have been together for about 4 years now.

SD16 randomly told us that BM told her DH and I are lying about how long we have known each other. She said we only met about 5 years ago. DH tried to tell her that BM is just trying to cause drama again, always looking to catch us in a 'lie'. I try to explain to SD16 that her mom is 'mistaken'. (I NEVER badmouth BM in front of SD no matter how crazy she can be). I said, perhaps your mom is thinking of someone else? SD16 says, nope, mom said you are both liars and you haven't known each other as long as you say you have.

I tell SD that I remember her as a baby. I actually babysat her when she was about 1 so her parents could go out. SD16 replies, "I don't remember that"...good lord child...She asks why I wasn't around when she was a bit older. I tell her after your parents split up, your mom and I lost touch and I didn't see you again. Then your dad moved out west and he and I lost touch for a few years. It wasn't till he moved back to Ontario that we reconnected and got together. She shook her head again. Nope. All lies.

This insane debate goes on for 20 minutes...I finally pull out my highschool yearbook. DH's and my pictures are on the same page. He signed my yearbook. In 1986.

SD stared at the pictures for a good minute and finally said, 'did they have photoshop in 1986?'

!!!???!!!

Yeah, SD, we wanted you to believe we have known each other almost 30 years so badly that we photoshopped a yearbook with our bad-80s-hair highschool pictures and I had your dad sign it just to trick you. We also had each other superimposed in our previous wedding photos AND I had your mom's signature forged in the guest book.

Next drama will likely be that I was the cause DH and BM broke up. Even though I apprently didn't know them then.

One of my favorite sentences: "Just 'cause your mom says it doesn't mean it's true".
Why would you have to prove anything to SD? Next time she starts with "My mom says...", just answer "Really?" or "She does?"
Best not feed the teenage drama shitstirring.

Yeah, I wouldn't entertain her by providing proof because if she's anything like my skids, she's always going to believe whatever lie BM tells her.

You all are probably right...I normally just let her dad deal with it, but in a weak moment I thought I could end the arguement with logic. My bad.

I think when one is being lied about, it's natural to want to defend oneself.

So, now you have and she still doesn't want to believe it, screw her and BM both.

My SD23 pulled the same crap when she was 15, she was set straight, and now I couldn't care less what she believes. It's obvious by some of the things she says that she is as delusional as BM about a lot of things, and like BM, she believes her own bullshit.

Every time my SD opens her mouth, she proves what an idiot she is. It's hilarious.
