OT honest people

This is completely OT.. but I am kind of spitting mad right now.  I have been looking to buy another horse and found one I thought I was interested in buying.  Had the vet out today to check it out and lo and behold.. it has some lameness in one of it's feet.  It "could" be the the thrush (from horrible muddy conditions).. or it could be a debilitating navicular condition.

come to find out that the reason why they were selling is that the horse has been having 'soundness issues'... Nice to find that out after I spend 200 dollars on a PPE.

Poor horse Sorry 2

Sorry you went through this ESMOD.
People can be lying bleeps!
At least you did the PPE before buying.
(They knew!)

Hopefully, the result will make these dishonest idiots get the vet to treat the horse.

I half think that the owner wanted me to do the PPE so that THEY would get to find out if she had an issue... now they are going to give her a month off then do xrays.. but I'm a little leery of buying her now.  I DID offer to take her for free lol.. because I would potentially have a lot of cost.

How annoying to think that way, right? As you know lameness can be so difficult to accurately identify.  X-rays, MRI's, time-off, injections, chiropractors ...  the amount of money you could spend is awesome.

The owner's should have mentioned that they had noticed vague, intermittant lameness or soundness issues even if they never were able to identify exactly why.  I think that you may be correct in that they were crossing their fingers the horse would pass or that they could finally find out what the problem was.   Surprised that the farrier or the owners never noticed thrush --- I've seen more lameness issues with a navicular situation in my experience.  Maybe the owners are simply ignorant and not consciously deceptive.

How frustrating and disappointing for you.  Good for you investing in a PPE.

I can relate.

We've been looking for a husband horse for several months now, and it's been a string of headaches. So many misleading ads, exaggerations, and outright lies. One horse, described as experienced with cattle and used for roping, was clearly frightened when I tried to throw a loop while on him. (I can't rope at all, but know enough to spin a loop). It's been disheartening, not to mention a waste of time and travel $$. We've decided that it the owner isn't a friend, or a good friend of a friend, we're not biting.
