Even beyond the grave...

elkclan's picture

I live near a cemetery and SO and I took a quick walk there this morning. We spotted a grave where a man "George" was buried in 1982 - the cremated remains of his wife "Ellen" were added in 1984. OK... pretty normal.

And then below that it said the cremains of his "First Wife Sandra" who died in 1999 was also etched on the headstone.

OMG - took me a minute to figure it out. But Sandra must have convinced the kids to have her added not only years (maybe decades) after the marriage ended, but 15 years after the 2nd wife was interred there.

I looked at SO and said "I am NOT sharing a grave with that woman."

Get your wills and pre-planned funerals in order ladies (and gentlemen).

Well, they could have agreed to it, though that would be odd!

I'm not sure wills or pre-planned funeral arrangements can protect against that, can they?  The kids can do whatever they want.  My parents had a plot picked out together in a local cemetery and after he died, my mother changed her mind and moved him to another location. All he can do now is haunt her if he objects.

Yeah anything is possible...

BM is younger than both of us, so I think I'll make sure to have my ashes scattered in the nearest river.

BM here would just make sure SS never went to DH's grave and then have them both buried together somewhere far, far away.

fitting DH's grave with invisible fencing and fitting SS with a collar for the OUTSIDE

And this is why DH and I will have no burial plots. I want to be cremated and planted as a tree. He just wants whatever is fast and cheap to rid the world of his body. If people feel the need to celebrate us, great. Otherwise, we're dead. Spirit and soul are gone. What's left is fertilizer.

would probably carve her name in your tree.

Well, my DH is not allowed to die before me but in the unlikely event that he does (he is younger than me and no health probs) I am havo g his ashes put in a cushion.

didn't live well past 1999 but I'm sure that stepHELL cut her lifespan down by at least a decade.

The skids were probably looking for the cheapest option and decided to just stuff mum in with Dad and SM.

How touching.

Hey, at least they paid for the engraving!

That is probably the most likely explanation. Then they're all 3 probably spinning in their graves.

F that! I will rise up and haunt every single person responsible if that happened to me.
