Tee hee, SD19 is getting big as a house

Elizabeth's picture

SD19 was always overweight as a child and I seemed to be the only one concerned. Nobody but me tried to get her to eat fruits and vegetables, and I was "mean" for doing it. So I gave up. If all DH and BM and SD wanted her eating was chicken strips and french fries for lunch and dinner and pop tarts for breakfast, so be it. She literally went like eight meals in a row of just chicken strips and french fries, and when she and DH frequented their favorite Chinese place, she NEVER got a single vegetable or fruit. It was ALL meat and fried foods.

SD is now 19 and she is SO wide. Even DH says she is getting fat. I'd say she is already there. The funny thing is both DH and BM, and especially SD, were vain about SD's appearance once she hit puberty because she gained height faster than she gained weight and so for a while there (a couple of years) she was skinny.

I know it's not seemly to gloat about someone's weight problems, and I struggle with weight issues as well. All the women in my family do. But it's still funny to see someone who was SO damn vain about her appearance slide the other way. She keeps trying to fit into regular-sized women's clothes, and it is NOT attractive. Like jean shorts two or three sizes too small so she squeezes out on top and bottom. Yuck.

I can relate. SD16 is the same way. She's a chunker. When I used to go grocery shopping with SO and skids on weekends I'd say, don't you want some banana's or apples? Hey how about we get some carrots and dip?

SO would flash me a nasty look then get snippy about it. THEY don't eat that stuff. No SO they eat oreo's, goldfish, and dorito's. Add fast food all weekend and you have a porker who doesn't realize her clothes are too small in no time.

NOW, SO is all on board with the healthier food. Except, SD still asks for crap and he obliges. Its ok though, because he gave her a treadmill for BMs so she works out on that all the time (right!). Thats why she's getting bigger.

At least SS has taken it upon himself to cut out fast food.

"But it's still funny to see someone who was SO damn vain about her appearance slide the other way."

I think this is why its enjoyable for me too. She's so in to herself. used to post pics and get people to tell her how wonderful she looks on FB (don't know anymore if she has a FB).
Now to see her squeeze in to her clothes and think she's cute, haha.

I finally had to institute the rule that if SD went to Chinese, she had to pick ONE vegetable. Boy, the fights we had over that one. Sweet and sour chicken (breaded), those deep friend pieces of batter rolled in sugar, egg drop soup and a TON of fried noodles is NOT a balanced meal.

When SD was 7 she could eat six tacos (only meat, shell and a TON of cheese) in one sitting. No beans or rice or tomatos or onions or lettuce.

I'm wondering how much longer SD is going to try to squeeze into Victoria's Secret and Abercrombie.

haha, I'm waiting for the day that abercrombie doesn't fit. I think she's already out of hollister. She barely goes there anymore.
She goes to american eagle a lot too. Not for long though.

I couldn't institute anything. I was just mean. I gave up and let her get fat. Now SO makes comments about her weight like "poor SD". I don't feel sorry for you if you did it to yourself. I told you so.

Really? I was always under the impression it was the opposite (18 in uk was a 16 in us) - mostly b/c of bra sizing. I usually have to buy my bras online to get one that fits. I fall between size "x" and size "y", but in UK standard sizing, I fall between size "y" and size "z." I hope that's not confusing, just not all cool w/ exposing my bra size in a public forum.

For a second there I was thinking you were a cup size X. I was like dear lord, get a reduction. lol.

Ketchup on spaghetti? Gross.

BM, SD13 (since gone back to BM) and SS17 are all large. SD14 is very slender. SS was 300 lbs, 6 ft when he moved here but has lost about 50 lbs. We tried so hard with SD13, but she would steal food and hide it in her room. Not chips and cookies, I'm talking packages of pasta, scalloped potatoes, etc. When I was pregnant with twins last year, I ran out of maternity clothes so I borrowed some of her stuff.

My SD18 is gaining fast too. She has a job now and her own $ so she eats fast food all the time. And this is telling, I go to the market on Sundays so yesterday I asked her to add what she wants to the list. She wrote down all HEALTHY stuff, which she always does. So BD16 was looking for the unopened bag of cookies for a snack and found it in SD room- basically empty! She had eaten nearly a whole bag of cookies Saturday night. And I opened the pantry and all the HEALTHY stuff I bought the week before was still there. LOL. I know when she starts college in the fall she will balloon up. It’s funny because she still tries to squeeze into her same clothes and DH gets so mad. He doesn’t want her to be like BM—fat!

My sd21 is really overweight, by about 50 lbs now I would say. She is short too, so she looks very wide. She lied to Dh about dieting, so he congratulates her on the phone, yet when he saw her recently and SAW that she was really big, what did he do ?? He said NOTHING !!!
She is a Hypochondriac, so she blames it on everything, as she is always suffering from a new thing, weekly !!
SHE is the only one stuffing herself at College, I warned DH that this would happen, like three years ago, but he just laughed it off.....guess who's laughing now !!!

Of course, she can do no wrong and he believes it all.....
The sad truth is that she lives right next to where her classes are, and within ten minutes walk she has a Gym and Swimming Pool at her disposal....she would rather just LIVE on the Internet and sit on her ever widening backside......

Not my problem, anymore, thank goodness..... I wonder if that's why I was getting such daggers from her recently too ( I've lost a lot of weight, since last seeing her !!) Her sap bf is also huge, so I guess they just trough down together and boy, does it show !!!!

I eat pretty healthy overall, my problem is I work at home and snacks are always available and sometimes it's just faster to grab something from the pantry than slice up some fruit, etc.

A typical meal I prepare is stir fry (just a bit of oil) with chicken and loads of whatever fresh veggies I have on hand (last time was cauliflower, yellow squash and onions), along with brown rice. Problem is, DH and SD just want to pick and choose. So DH eats one helping with the veggies then goes back for a second helping and picks out the meat only. SD for her first helping picks out only the meat and takes as much as she can possibly find so when anybody goes back for seconds or I package it up for my lunch the next day, ALL that is left is veggies.

Another typical meal I make is baked chicken with a fresh vegetable, fresh fruit and maybe rice or pasta. DH will eat only chicken and the starch and maybe one bite of the vegetable, then he will go in and make himself a large sandwich (thus a second meal) or a big bowl of cereal. SD will eat ONLY the chicken and won't eat the pasta unless it is coated in a cream-based sauce and never even look at the veggie or fruit. Then she'll eat an entire tub of frozen cookie dough bought for a fundraiser and I don't know she's been doing that until I go to make a dozen cookies for a treat for my two BDs and find a nearly empty tub.

I can make all the healthy meals I want, but if nobody eats them...

this is true. This is why I stopped cooking (among other reasons).

Pack your lunch first btw.

SD16 has been hovering around 170-185 lbs for the last 4 years. She's 5'5". She accepts BM's excuse of "Oh I got bad genes." No girl, what you got was your mother's crap food choices and your mother forbidding you to play sports in school so you could save her a buck on daycare for her second kid.

I'm pretty sure that by the time SD16 shows up in two weeks, she will outweigh DH. (5'9" 185) He and I have been on a "diet" for the last two months - I lost 8 lbs (down to 5'4", 122) and he is still losing at 14 lbs and counting.

Oh, it'll be glorious; portion control, salads, plenty of veggies and chicken... DH has a sweet tooth and zero self-control, so the ice cream/chips/cookies/crackers/sodas have been banned for months already. Betcha SD16 a) loses 20 lbs in the 2 months she's with us, or b) spends everything she makes in her summer job on fast food.
