I let my feelings get hurt!!!

Eagle Eye's picture

Expectation leads to disappoint!! I know this, I follow this but sometimes I forget!

I took it upon myself to order BD15 & SS14 yearbooks at $60 each! I ordered them ahead of time in order to beat the rush. So BD sends me text the other day asking if I would buy her a yearbook. I replied saying I had preordered. She text back a big THANK YOU!! Then came home and thanked me again telling me she forgot her school ID so she'd pick it up the next day.

I text SS to let him know I ordered him a book too and that he could go pick it up at school with his ID. I got no response that night. Then yesterday after school my BD text me that she got her yearbook and was so excited. I then text SS a simple "hello?" because I hate being ignored....about an hour later he text me back saying "I got it" That's it! No thanks, no I like it no nothing!!

I was so upset by the time DH got home! I didn't expect SS to be jumping for joy but a simple thank you would have been nice. It just reminded me of every holiday/birthday with SS. He nevers says thank you!! Last year we gave him $100 and he had the nerve to ask his dad the second after receiving the money "did you at least tell my mom that you didn't buy me anything?" WTF?

I told DH this is it! There will be no more of me going out of my way to do nice things for that selfish jerk!! DH says well I don't think SS even thinks you care about him. Uh...NO DH, I am not falling for this now!! This is about YOUR son having NO MANNERS! I stormed out of the room! Grrrr!!

Exactly why I stormed off!! It has nothing to do with anything other than the kid has no manners! Neither BM nor DH has taught the kid and that isn't my fault!

this is usually what happens! The convo gets redirected! In fact DH tried to say something about BD and I had to cut him off there too! This was simply about his son having zero manners!

DH did say he would talk to SS but I told him not to bother to have him thank me now! It's too late!

BD needed ink for the printer last night. DH goes out and buys a whole new computer instead, wireless. He sets it up and tells BD its ready to use. She says thank you so much!! He says "whatever dude" in a hateful tone! WTF?

I try not to buy much of anything for ss as no thanks is going to be forthcoming. I used to buy him things and he would turn to my dh and thank him. Even if he was sitting at home with dh and i went to the store bought the item, brought it home, and handed it to him.

He doesnt thank me for rides, for doing his laundry, for cooking his supper, for picking up after him-those are all just my JOBS evidently. So I try not to go out of my way for him. Whatever I do do for him, I make sure that I am comfortable doing it and I'm ok with it as I know to expect anything in return would be foolish. Sometimes I do it just because I'm a nice person, sometimes I do it because dh appreciates it, but never because I expect ss to appreciate it.

My SS does this very same thing! I make dinner he tells DH thanks, I buy the gifts he tells DH thanks, DH will say dont forget to thank Eagle but really what's the point!?

SS never thanks me for anything so I am not surprised that he didn't say thank you! Just for some reason it really hurt my feelings. Maybe because I did it on my own without discussing with DH. Just to be nice? I don't know but it won't happen again! Next year he will have to look at BD's yearbook unless his parents decide to buy him his own! Screw it!

My skids are the same way. My BD9 has the best manners, please and thank you all the time. Skids don't know what it means to say please or thank you, and it's so irritating! They are ungrateful lazy little brats.

Honestly, I've never been around any child that didn't say thank you! This is so strange to see! My mom is shocked and I'm embarrassed! There's no way that DH can't see the difference in manners!

My BD knows to say thank you even if she doesn't like the gift. She learned that at a very young age! My mom used to give her clothes that BD would never wear but she learned to say thank you anyway and then she would talk to be about it in private.

SS will say thank you for dinner because DH has gotten onto him in that past about it. So he says it and sounds like he forced to everytime! HAHA!! Other than that he does NOT say thank you to me, my mother or rarely his dad!

That's strange that your Skids tell you thank you and not their dad. Maybe they figured out that you do most of the stuff anyway. Smile
