Shouldn't have even asked.

Sd has grown out of her clothes here and buying for her is a pain.
One, like every kid, they hate to try on clothes
And two, SD is very very thin and tall.

We bought her some clothes for school to send back with her to BM's house.
Just a couple of things, and of course we made her try them on.
I found the perfect pair of jeans that fit her well but forgot what size they were.

So I asked BM if she could check for me.
She said that SD already out grew them. We literally just bought them like two months ago. But whatever, nevermind to that.
Then she went on to add that SD is one size bigger in shirts and one size smaller in SHORTS and SKIRTS.

OKAY. The shirt thing, is kinda correct. Her normal size and even one size below fits her fine because she's skinny. However because she's tall, they aren't long enough for her torso. Therefore the only next option is the next size up which works fine but the shirts look a little baggy on her.

But the shorts and skirts? UM NO!
This is why SD is always looking like trash when we get her.
Ugh.
Yes. Because she's skinny, at the waist, a size smaller DOES FIT...however, because she is tall the shorts and skirts are wayyyy too short.
We are not going to dress her like that.

I just wanted the size of the jeans we bought her cause I know they fit her well and where I got them (since some sizes run a little different at different stores). She wouldn't tell me the size. Instead she said they just didn't fit her anymore.
I think they were one size up in slim. But either way, guess we're just going to have to make SD miserable and go clothes shopping with her - which isn't fun for her

I could just tell BM to pack her a bag, but she'd probably pack the ugliest stuff she owns and clothes obviously too small and dirty. :/

Children's place. My daughter is 11 and 5'7" and weights 101. Looks 15. Very tall very skinny.
My son is a bean pole as well. I have always gotten all bottom at children's place because everything has adjustable waist bands.
DD has now out grown them in pants. So I get her skinny jeans juniors size 1. Shorts.. I ONLY buy burmuda style. They are made to be knee length, on DD they are normally just below mid theight. But they are never too short

Still learning. Haven't tried Children's Place so we will definitely try there because this child just keeps getting taller but Is still so skinny.

Also - WTF, we do buy our own stuff for SD. That was the whole point of asking BM about the size because SD has grown out of the clothes WE bought for her. BM has never packed a bag. I just said that cause sometimes it would just be easier. She doesn't work anymore and because of that, CS was raised - so DH is buying whatever she's gettkng anyway.
I've read on here how some step families just have BM pack a bag because it's a waste to get clothes here - nice clothes - that SD doesn't get to wear often. But we wouldnt ask her to pack a bag. Even if she was up for it, it would get old and become a problem, so we will just be getting her more clothes for our home. Ugh.

Get her measurements with a dress makers measuring tape, and take those with you when you clothes shop. Then look at the tag inside which will have what the measurements are. You then find clothing that is the same as her measurements or not much difference. You'll find perfect fitting clothing nearly every time without having to try them on. Do this every 6 months for good results.

I can totally relate to your frustration.Bm dresses sd8 in the shortest ill fitting shorts that make her look trashy and embarrassing. I refuse to be seen with her like that...fortunately dh makes her change into shorts that fit once she arrives here. We have a huge stash of appropriate options!
