Tax time and the ex

DoingItAgain's picture

Hi all. It's been a long time since I posted. Things have been pretty good. But now... It's tax time. You see DH and BM have always alternated claiming SS every other year. So this would be her year. But DH and I discussed and agreed she hasn't earned the right to continue claiming him and basically told her we are claiming him.

'Family' photo

I was checking facebook tonight and scrolled across a picture of my husband posted by SS19... taken this weekend while at a family get-together with DH's 'former' family... BM and all. It was SS19's going away party... he's leaving for boot camp next week.

Anyways, the picture was of my husband, his two sons with BM (SS19 and SS12) and BMs youngest son from her current marriage. It was a tad awkward watching the picture be taken... but I didn't know why... I mean it's 3 brothers (technically from 3 different dads but DH raised SS19) and a father of basically two of the boys.

BM and the 'who drops off/picks up' dilemma

Generally, I don't have too many issues with BM... she pretty much stays to herself and doesn't cause any problems... except when we ask her to step up and help more in her sons life. She sees SS EOW. She pays no CS... there was never any formal custody plan or CS order in their divorce. Ok, fine. SS goes to a private school with my BS. Very expensive (this was our choice and have never asked her for a dime). No school bus. I take them to school every day and I or DH picks them up.. except for the EOW Friday and she picks SS up.

MY Ex and Pop Warner

I know this isn't exactly about a blended family issue but I really need some guidence.

My BS10 has been begging to play tackle football for 3 years. I finally enrolled him in Pop Warner this summer as he goes to a small private school that did not offer football. I had told his dad what I was planning and he was fine with it because he knows how much BS wanted to play. He's the excessive Disney Daddy.... whatever BS wants, BS gets.

Crap - now it will be an SS and Xbox issue...

If anyone remembers my previous post regarding SS and the Wii issue... SS was allowed to buy a Wii with his own money and we basically took it away from him.... I don't need anymore comments regarding this... I know it was wrong but I had to contend with DH on that one.

Well now, SS wants an XBox and is trying to save his money. SS doesn't have his own room. He shares with BS. We have another tv in the family room that can be used. The Wii is hooked up in the Living Room.

Need help - EH and DH being idiots!

I am leaving town for a few days to go visit my best friend in another state. This is during part of the time when BS would be with me because his BD (EH) normally has to work those days and can't take him. I first asked my EH to arrange his schedule to take him. He's not been able to do it and says he may have to call in sick for 3 days (which, he has no problem doing). EH already pays less than 1/3 of the required child support (lately it's been about $100 per month) so him calling in sick would affect ME!

Update to SS's Wii issue

So, last night, after I get home and dad is out of the room, out of the blue SS points out a pretty bad mark/bruise on his arm... the shape of BSs mouth. Crap. He said BS bit him. I'm like, 'When?'. He says "this morning". I'm like wait a minute, BS said you guys got into a fight and I asked both of you what happened and neither one mentioned anything physical!

SS's Wii

Yeah, before DH and I were married, SS saved up enough money and dad allowed him to to buy himself a Wii. I guess as a single dad, you don't foresee the problems this would cause.

So, fast forward... we married and now we have Wii Fit FOR THE FAMILY, Net Flix streaming FOR THE FAMILY and my BS has also gotten various Wii games as well.
