Hehe oh BM dear...
So I asked BM why we are still paying her when we get SD half of the time and she doesnt have to pay rent or anything. Her response? "Well I'll let you ask them when we go back in 2 years to do it. They automatically do it every 3 years so you don't thing that it's me making them." And of course I let her know that in this town there are so many single fathers that I know perfectly well that a parent has to request in NC for the child support to be re evaluated. Funny thing is, I'd be thrilled if she took me today because the child support would just be lowered.
My solution then??? My husband and I are going on a small budget and saving all of my checks. 1 and a half years from now, We'll have quite a few thousand in the bank and have us a nice lawyer.
Oh watch out BM.

Can you call child support
Can you call child support services and ask for a modification? I know where I'm from, a parent can requesta modification every 6 months.
Its not so much the child
Its not so much the child support that I want lowered... I would rather have SD living with us... shes 2 so BM couldnt have brain washed her too much yet... atleast without it being reversible...
But youre right... why shouldn't we go for custody now???
Only issue is that right now we get her half the time... and the courts will ask what is wrong with that picture... In 1.5 years, she will be almost 4. And it will be time to start the custody proceedings before she goes to school. Lowering the child support through court on our own may look bad on our part.

I think it's crap you guys have to pay CS if you have the child 50/50 in the first place.

i so totally agree we were paying child support although we had 50/50 custody almost 600/mo and BM also got SSI for our handicap son that she didn't have to split with we each worked 50+ hours to get by while she did absoutely nothing but pend the money on herself the judge has awarded us full custody and now the tables have turned the state no longer pays out SSI b/c we make too much and next week BM goes in front of the judge b/c she's 1000s in arrears
Yea I think everyone but her
Yea I think everyone but her thinks that it is crap. But what you have to understand is that with Marines, these girls scope them out. They know that its a steady income and that the child will have free insurance and college money through the GI bill. Not to make excuses for DH because it was of his own stupidity but this girl lied to him about being on birth control so she could take his money. As long a she gets that money I dont think she cares how much we get SD.

It took us about 7 months for ours to come through. In WI you have to request as well.

Dont worry :) I have a counselor
already picked out. A friend recommended her to me. I just need to call her tomorrow to set up an appointment. Thank God for tricare.. so luckily we wont have to pay for that...
Trust me, we will be at counseling. He's already let the shop know that once I get it scheduled he is going to have to miss a little bit of work. Since we are on different shifts, we will have to do it on his because he gets paid whether he is there or not.
Either way, all else fails we will have a hefty savings....
