From annoying to psycho in 2.5- am I letting her get to me?

Poor SS. I'm so annoyed and frustrated with Ms. Perfect...I can only imagine what hell it is to live with her.

We had weekend visitation this week. Ms. P. has SS call to find out what time we are picking him up. This paperwork is all of 3 weeks old. God forbid she actually read it. If she had, she would have known that she is responsible for drop off until school is out, and that it occurs at 6:00 pm (yeah, she couldn't remember that from 2 weeks ago). She didn't even believe us until Mic read it verbatum from the paperwork. She said they were in the middle of dinner (SS wasn't eating because we were BBQing steaks for him- first time she's managed to get dinner together before 8:00 in I don't know how long...-so anyway they are going to be late). SS finally comes over- limping. Apparently he sprained his ankle at the "office" (which is a business front for illegal gambling...he should never have been there in the first place). She didn't even bother to wrap it in an ACE bandage. She knew he was going down to the shore for a birthday party on Saturday...God forbid the kid have any fun while he's with us. I was annoyed...but...whatever.

Then we get a call later on that night. SS had been playing outside with a friend before he was dropped off. Apparently the kid was covered in ticks, so Ms. P. wanted us to check SS for ticks. Okay, fine. Fair enough. But no, she could never just leave it at that. She specifically said that I needed to check SS's head for ticks. I know, I should take this as a compliment of my thoroughness, right? Apparently all I'm good for are head checks and unnecessary thank yous (yeah, still a bit proturbed about that one). Again...I was willing to let it all go.

So the weekend ends...SS goes home. Note here that it's hot as balls outside, and here's Ms. P. (wearing entirely too little) outside doing yard stuff. So we drop off SS and go on our merry way. Memorial Day(also hot as balls), she takes him down to the beach. All is well.

Then Mic gets a phone call from SS this afternoon (it's never a good thing we he actually calls us- how F'ed up is that?). "Can you take me to my ball game?" Mic said that the electrician was coming, and that he needed to talk to him. SS begins to cry, saying that his mom wouldn't take him, because it was too hot outside (coolest day in a week...but it's too hot out). I told Mic to just take him, and that I would handle the electrician. Then Ms. Perfect gets on the phone. She says" Oh, well...you don't have to take him. He hasn't missed a game all year. It's okay if he misses one". The nerve of this bitch- that's certainly not what she said to the judge. So Mic took him to the game. He got grandma to go and everything. Come to find out the whole stinking thing was a big giant set up from the beginning.

Turns out that she forgot about SS's game. When she refused to take him on account of it being too hot, SS told her that he would get Mic to take him. She wouldn't even let him call (although, had he been able to at this time, we could've tweeked the time with the electtician). She said that Mic wouldn't take the time (not didn't have the time- wouldn't take the time- who says that to their own kid???) to take him to his ball game. So when Mic finally said yes, SS told her "See? I told you Dad would take me!" This is when she got on the phone trying to talk him out of it. All so that Mic would look like a bad father, and so she wouldn't look like a jerk for not "taking the time" to take him. What is wrong with this woman?!?

It's sad when parents are too preoccupied with dressing skimpy and doing their own thing that they neglect their children. Even worse when they try to make the other parent look like the bad guy!

Oh well. You guys did the right things all weekend long. Be proud of yourselves for that! Also, I think it's awesome that SS had faith in his father and went to him when he needed something. That really makes me smile, especially considering what you all have been through with this kid.
