It's a generational thing, it's just got to be. There seems to be a common theme with older kids out of the potty-training stage and their inability to manage their pee/poop functions.
When I first started dating SO 3 ½ years ago, I was HORRIFIED at the poop problems with then SD7 and especially SS6. I had never ever had an experience with a kid that couldn't or wouldn't control their bowels at such an age. As a young teenager, I babysat almost every weekend, kids of various ages, and never ever ran into this situation. Oh sure, there was an accident once in a while, but the kid was usually upset and embarrassed by this accident. I would soothe hurt feelings and clean up, no problem.
SDthen9 was diagnosed with encopresis. Google it, it is completely disgusting. Again, something that I had NEVER heard of. SD9 is tall and thin and her belly was all pooched out like a starving child in Africa from all the poop in there. Fortunately, she is doing much better, but she has to be reminded EVERY DAY to go poop.

SSnow9 is in 2nd grade. He was held behind in kindergarten so technically should be in 3rd grade. He spent the entire first week of school coming home with poop filled underwear. HE.DOES.NOT.CARE.AT.ALL
It doesn't bother him that he has a load in his pants or that he smells. For some weird reason kids in his class have NOT caught onto the smell and started teasing him. As crappy (ha, get it???) as it sounds, I kind of hope they do.....maybe some peer pressure would stop all of this.
SS9 has ADHD and has been seeing a counselor for about 2 years. SO mentions this many, many times to the counselor and it has not done one bit of good.
SO spanks SS9 when he poops his pants. I am all in favor of spanking when needed, but even I told SO that he probably shouldn't do that. It isn't helping things at all.
SO has tried everything to get SS9 to stop. He sits him on the toilet every day, reminds him all the time, has done punishments by taking all toys and electronics away, timeout in the corner....... NOTHING works.
It doesn't help matters that BM doesn't care or do anything to help. SS9 more often than not comes home from BMville with a load in his pants.

I have suggested making SS9 wash his underwear and pants each and every time he poops them. We'll see what SO says, he poo-poos (ha, get it???) my ideas most of the time.
Any other ideas out there?

Holy CRAP!!!! (LOL) Something is most definitely amiss, but spanking sure won't work. The therapist doesn't have anything to add to this?

She apparently keeps saying she'll talk to him about it, but it's not working. I referred SO to her, she is very highly recommended and is well-known for her work with children.
But, she seems to be the foo-foo, very sensitive, "let's talk about our feelings" type of person.
Whereas I am the kind of "let's see how spanking your butt feels!" type of person.

And before the flaming commences....I have not, nor would ever lay a hand on his pwecious pwecious snowflakes.
