OT- Rear-ended yesterday (Tuesday)

CLove's picture

This is actually my first time and I am over the age of 50, so I guess I was due.

The kid (kid because he barely just turned 20, and looked barely 18), was speeding and not watching and hit me, pushing me forward, and luckily I saw it was about to happen, and pushed the brakes so that I wouldnt hit the car in front of me. Also luckily it was a street thing not a highway thing.

Im a little sore, with that weird tightness that feels like a really strenuous workout, but its all up my back from the base of my spine. up through the back of my skull. Im just a bit tired and want to curl up in bed. But here I am, online at lunch and at work, getting it done.

The kid wants to pay me cash, but I have a BMW and the bumper is bad, it will be expensive. Im getting an estimate currently. I have referrals to chiropracters locally also some self-healing remedies like CBD, and electro light thereapy for building (rebuilding) muscles. My community has been very helpful.

All in all, I feel grateful it wasnt worse and grateful that I am in the position to take care of the things I need to. It wont break us! I have great insurance!

Psychologically, I am shaken up. A bit moody and emotional. So, I need a hug right now.

I hope he has insurance - that is a typical sign of someone that does not have it.

Also, please go see an actual medical doctor before going to a chiropractor, especially since you are over 50, you could have sustained a fracture.

Sorry for your (his) accident.

Im a little fuzzy-brained today.

I also hope he does. If not, I have his drivers license and license plate, I will defintely be able to make his life hard.

Definitely go through the insurance...then you have some come-back if you're more damaged than you realise. Glad you're ok overall though...albeit a bit sore and stiff. You're very lucky to have got to 50 without having something similar happen before!

Yep - I feel damaged at the end of the day.

Did you make a police report? If not, make one. Your insurance company will require it and you will be able to find out if the driver has insurance. So sorry this happened - it can definitely affect you emotionally as well as physically.

goes unpunished.

I wonder if this kid is a COD?

He tells me that this is taking a "toll on him and he already has anxiety and depression. And hes a teenager".

LOL. Ill bet hes a coddled snowflake child of divorce.

Ugh, sorry this happened to you. In my experience (and I've been rear ended FIVE times) when you see it coming but can't avoid it, you tense up, which causes more strained muscles.

I swore after the last time, no more Mrs Nice Guy handling it all myself. Lawyer up with a reputable personal injury attorney, let them handle the details, and focus on getting well. Can you make a doctor's appointment for some muscle relaxers and get a good massage? Releasing all the toxins will help with mental acuity.

Edit ~ I came back to add that gone are the days where we can say "Oh, I'll just use my own medical insurance, don't worry about it". Between high deductibles and high co pays, it's just not smart to let things go.

Yikes! 5 sounds like a lot, but I drive very slowly, people would rather pass me than plow into me.

I definitely need a massage. Feeling less sore today, but still some tightness in cranium and shoulders.
