Are things really that bad

Chmmy's picture

While stewing about the skids ruining part of my weekend with the bios who I dont see very often, they got jobs out of town, i need to take a moment to pray for the family of Officer Jimenez of the Chicago Police Department whose life was taken a week ago protecting others when a man shot his girlfriend at Mercy hospital.

We all have problems, holidays ruined, events ruined but watching his funeral today helps to put a little perspective on the definition of the word ruined. This family spent their Thanksgiving planning a funeral for a hero. They probably wont do much to "celebrate" christmas. Watching the mayor of Chicago give his wife a flag is the definition of a life ruined.

Trust me Ill still complain about the skids and their asinine behavior but Im going to try to put in perspective thigs aren't always as bad as they seem.

Im not very religious but sometimes the peacefulness of prayer goes a long way.

Agreed with all of this - I always try to put things in perspective. For both me and my DH.

I lost my dad around Thanksgiving-time over a decade ago now. He was very young...I was very young, but not as young as my 5 siblings...it's rough.

I'm tempted to bring this fact up EVERY time DH whines about his kids getting short-changed in life...but I don't. I just know it for myself. There are far worse things than being in a second family...

Just hit me you said 5 siblings. Wow. That must have been difficult for your mom to raise all those kiddos on her own!

This is a great point and I’ve been thinking of that officer, as well as the Sgt. who was killed when he went into the CA bar shooting...as well as the firefighters and victims of the CA wildfires. There are just so many terrible things out there, but sometimes it’s hard to see past our own bubble.

Let's not forgot Dr. Tamara O'Neal and Pharmacy Technician Dayna Less who were also killed in the incident. Dr. O'Neal had recently ended her engagement with the gunman.

I agree, it is sometimes difficult to remember to keep things in perspective.
