Gift ideas for out of state skids?

CBCharlotte's picture

We have SS4 and SS5 with us for Christmas this year. They live in Texas, and we live in North Carolina. We are trying to come up with unique gift ideas. They have SO many toys at their moms house and will only be getting more. Any gifts we get them will have to stay here (and we don't have them again until summer) or be shipped back. We got them a few small things (light saber, tool set) and are looking for other unique ideas.

I want to get them those story books where you can record your voice reading to them and they can follow along. Any other ideas?

I also want to give them "experiences", like we are taking them to Monkey Joe's (indoor bounce house place) and Skyzone (indoor trampoline place) rather than just more junk.

Thanks in advance!

I'd probably do Legos b/c they can be kept there and used for years (my SD11 still likes them LOL)

ETA. I like things that also inspire creativity and imagination.

Agree with Legos since they are something they can use for many years.

No point in buying a ton of gifts since they wont be using them that often. I think taking them to do things is a great idea.

Legos too, I love legos, all the kids love legos, you can play legos with kids...for hours on end and build a big house or build a big city or build a big boat or whatever and the kids always remember you playing with them. And in your case you could save it in their room till they got back to play it again with them.

On days when we get snowed in, we all lay in the living room, drink hot chocolate and watch movies and build lego cities. So I'm slighted with the Lego idea I guess. lol

You could get them an ornament for the tree with their name on it, I've seen some cute state of Texas ones and can be personalized. That way they'd have something from Texas on your tree that is theirs.

I love the idea of spending time with the skids doing fun things, we do the same for our skids on birthdays. Not stuff, but making memories.
