Absolutley Stunned

A report had been filed against BM by a counselor at SS7's school. He told them that BM will hold a towel over his mouth and nose when he is crying, and will do so until be stops. SO found out today that the county does not consider that abuse and will not be investigating it. No talking to SS. No talking to BM. Oh, but they did put a nice little note on the bottom of the letter sent saying "thank you for your interest in child safety". So pissed off right now.

Right!?

The thing that made me feel the worst is today SS said it doesn't matter what you say to mom. She'll just keep doing it.

Just to get him to stop. She does it because when he's throwing a fit, crying and screaming, she can't handle it and it pisses her off.

Sigh. I know that people get frustrated with cps. But this is just how it works. They will not investigate claims of emotional abuse. There are literally children being killed- those situations must take priority over mental/ emotional abuse. It's no use to blame the cps workers- they are assigned huge caseloads and have to priortize. Some of these issues with the other parent need to be worked out in civil court. Please pursue custody if these sorts of things are occurring.

No offense- but why are u stunned? I told you in your last post that this is likely not something they would investigate. If they were required to investigate every claim of emotional abuse, poor parenting then they would literally need to hire millions more cps workers. This is really more of a civil matter. Document and use it to file a custody change. Cps was not designed to handle these sorts of cases. Being upset with them will not benefit this situation, taking action on a civil level will

I know I shouldn't be particularly surprised, but I guess I thought an act that prevents a child from breathing would be looked into. More so now that I have read the state statutes where it states word for word; "unreasonable interference with a child's breathing" is considered abuse. And this isn't just a one time thing. A consulation with an attorney has been set.

That's so sad that they won't do anything about it. Dh still can and should fight for custody and talk to the counselor who reported this.

CPS won't do anything until SS is in a coma in the hospital with brain damage from lack of oxygen.

I think CPS is a complete joke...can you tell?? }:)
