Reporting underage children on FACEBOOK. fyi

Use this link http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=underage instead of using the report/block person link in their profile. The normal link in their profile does not allow for underage reporting and is too be used for harrassing or offensive behavior.

so I've wondered... when you "report" someone that is underage.. how in the world does FB know if they are lying or not?? For instance, both skids are on FB, both are not old enough to be on FB, but both have fake birth years so for instance SD who is 13 is 24 on FB.....

If you report does FB automatically delete? Do they tell the person who reported them??
I have no intentions of going down that road, but was just curious...

They really don't know if your lying or not. They ask in the last question for you to provide why you feel this person is under age. I doesn't hurt to report and have others report it too. There is power in numbers. If they get one report they may not do anything, if they get several they will look into it. I recommend PMing people you trust and have them report it too and/or have other friends/relatives report concerns also

I do not believe any kid shoudl have a FB or Myspace account unless following the guideliens set by the site-for many reasons. I'm not one to be a stickler about each/every rule but for some reason I am with this-I would likely report an underage child I knew, yes.

What pisses me off to no end with all of these kids on FB is they are ALL lying about their age or FB wouldn't even let them start a page to begin with... so these parents are allowing their kids to lie and break rules.

My DH and I had a huge discussion about this once when he insisted that he was going to take SS who was 11 at the time hunting when the legal age is 13. DH said that SS knew how to shoot a gun, was taught to be responsible by DH, was taught all about hunter safety by DH etc. (which is all very true) and DH felt that he was ready and that "the law was stupid anyway" I flipped out... I said can you imagine if everyone just willy nilly decided which laws were stupid and which weren't and that it was not his "choice" to decide when SS was ready, and what in God's name was he teaching him by encouraging him to break the law????

For once DH actually thought about our discussion and agreed with me and didn't end up taking him... and I don't think I've ever been prouder of him... just wish all these other parents would have a shred of responsibility.

Well the particular profile I reported appears to be gone. I reported it waited about 15 minutes, it was still there so I reported it again and I wrote to them I'd continue to report it every 30 minutes until it was gone since it's a safety issue. Went about some errands checked back and its gone so this link does work.
