skids here for the summer sent with only the clothes on their backs

buterfly_2011's picture

Yep. Got skids with only what they have on. We have for months now been sending misc items to BM. She can't afford underwear, she can't afford socks and now skids tell us she can't afford any clothes. Their clothes are all too small as they are growing growing growing.

Bitch lives 6 hours away. We get them once a month and now for the entire summer and she sends them with no clothing. I'm ready to EXPLODE. We have them until the end of August..............

Do you have a Goodwill near by? Sucks that she did that and its now on you guys. I would suggest to buy used jeans and shirts but buy brand new underwear and socks. Good luck with it, I know it can add up quick!

The worst thing about these predicaments is that if YOU do the same thing, by sending them back to BM's with only the clothes on their backs, it only really hurts the kids. Maybe not physically but obviously you'll need to buy them stuff for the summer, so then what, do you tell them they can't take the stuff to BM's after summer is over, and let it all go to waste? Ugh.

We are EOW and have this clothing battle, too. Skids come to our house with clothes inappropriate to circulate into wearing to school or it's all too small. We try really hard to send them back to BM's the next Sunday in exactly what they came in. Often times she makes a remark about what they're wearing. Now we can say "This is what you sent them in, so why are you judging it?" Shuts her up pretty fast.

Goodwill or thrift stores. And be sure to send them back with just the clothes they're wearing!

OP didn't you know that ncp's are *supposed* to provide for double of everything, even after CS gets paid???

Pathetic BMs. They get me so mad. I would eat dirt before I EVER gave my ExH & his GF the satisfaction of seeing my son without what he needed. I used to send him to his dads for the entire summer and I'd even send bath soap in his luggage! ExH had to call me once and tell me "I have toothpaste in my house UFR, you don't need to send that stuff you know." Oh believe me darling I KNOW I don't HAVE to send it, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I let any woman talk shit about MY parenting skills.

This is exactly what blows me away sometimes. I cannot IMAGINE not providing for my kid. I find joy in finding cute clothes for him as well as my skids, even if they are second hand it's nice to know they have nice stuff. Also I cannot IMAGINE only having my kids half the time and not being so excited to see them, and spend every moment I can with them while I have them!

These half-assed (quarter-assed? dime-assed?) moms blow my mind. I don't understand.

I'm surprised he bothered to say anything at all. We probably just would have left extras like that in the suitcase and sent them back. No biggie.

Such a battle!!! We endure it also. BM sends the skids in torn jeans and t-shirts either too big or too small, mismatched socks and if we are lucky underwear. Our rule is that they go back in the clothes she sends them in. I wash their clothes on Friday night and they are clean and ready. BM always makes comments, DH tells her if you think they look bad, why did you send them to school in that on Friday??

She plants a seed in the skids that DH and TryingMom need to buy you some new clothes, so we hear this about 10 times over a weekend. DH has told them that we buy back to school clothes and mid year clothes, when does BM have to buy them anything??

Let's not even get into the socks and underwear battle! Those boogers will find a way to wear two pairs home and leave our house with none all the time. :?

We actually send SS13 to BM without anything as well. The way I see it, she pays zero child support. The least she can do is provide for the child during summer when he is in her care.

Last year she was granted one two week visit. She made a big deal, telling SS that she had purchased things for him. So we didn't even think of sending him with anything since he was excited about his stuff at her house. Turns out she didn't purchase much at all - maybe some underwear and socks from the dollar store.

She bitched that he came without anything but DH just told her it was her job to take care of his needs when he was in her care and that SS had mentioned that she had purchased things for him.

Now, this would be a very different scenario if we were dealing with a reasonable person, but this is the mother that abandoned her child for 7 years, popped our tires, put sugar in our gas tanks, etc, etc. So , no. We do not provide anything extra for her and allow her to show SS what she's made of.

She has him every other weekend right now and will wash his clothes and send him back in his school uniform on sundays. She's actually ruined several of his clothes while washing them ... not exactly sure how, but she has. She actually replaced his school khakis with a pair of her own size 12 women's khaki's. the sad part is that SS wore them for several months, with a belt to hold them up. I had to tell DH to have a talk with him about wearing his mother's clothes.

Don't need her ruining any of what we've purchased for him.

I get that it's frustrating, but we gave up this battle a long time ago. Skids have a full wardrobe at our house, including shoes. Nothing additional comes into our home, and nothing leaves.

He pays child support and not a single red cent more for ANYTHING unless it's previously agreed upon (sports, extracurriculars, etc).
