BM canceled her TV network using out Netflix account

buterfly_2011's picture

So skids are here and accidently slipped about their mom and her BF using our Netflix account. So they canceled their TV and are now using the Netflix we freaken pay for so our kids can watch movies. I am saying shut it down. Or change the password and they can only watch it when they are here. DH still has the same passwords for everything. I'm so livid right now.

If i'm not mistaken, you have to deactivate the devices along with changing the password. I think with most devices the Netflix account stays signed in so I don't know if changing the password only would work. Go to your account and deactivate your devices, then change the password. You then sign back in on your devices with the new password. I had to do this and this is the process I had to do. Hope that helps.

so i've changed the Netflix password a million times because my SD9 likes to watch things that are inappropriate. but my DH keeps giving it to her when he is lazy and doesn't want to deal with her, you know "here watch a movie get out of my hair" so i change it ever month or so.

Go to netflix & change your password. Click Account > Your Streaming Plan > Manage Devices & Computers > Disconnect Devices. This will disconnect any and every player that is linked to your account. They won't be able to log back in without your new password. Yes, it will be a small inconvenience for you because you will have to re-connect all of your own devices but its a small price to pay to get rid of the freeloaders.

Along with changing your Netflix account password. I would have DH change all his other passwords too. If BM has ANY passwords, thats to many. She shouldnt have any of DH.

Ha! That's just changed the password to everything and disconnected all devices. She was in the middle of a movie. Love it!

My DH is this stupid too. Uses the SAME password for EVERYTHING, gave skids his netflix stuff...but the thing was it was MY bank card that was being used to pay for it. I took my bank card off as soon as he gave them the info.

Glad I did because I noticed that every once in awhile something pops up in recently watched that no one in the house watches.

Now just make sure the guilty daddy doesn't give the kids the passwords or you'll be back at square one. WHat a damn freeloader. Disgusting.

I know I am too late but you might want to try using pass-phrases instead of a password. Pass-phrases are almost impossible to crack (especially from psycho BMs because it involves too much brain power! }:) )

Say your passphrase is: My dog has fleas and needs a bath

that becomes: mDhF&naB (if you capitalize the nouns) or whatever works for you!

Thanks. I work in IT. It is hard, sometimes to explain the concept so people "get it" but it works wonderfully.

I used to get my gmail accounts hacked regularly from someone overseas in different countries. Since I changed to passphrases, I haven't had any issues like that (knock on wood).
