LOL, REEEEEALLLLY?!? This I GOTTA see!

I can't stop laughing inside my own mind! OMG, OMG, SS12 just said he wants to go into the Air Force when he gets older (note: I did NOT say when he grows up, because I doubt he ever will)! I have never myself served in any branch of the armed forces because I don't have the guts for it, but I have nothing but respect for members of our armed services, because last time I checked, enlisting in any one of them means having to do actual work. Like, HARD work. And last time I checked, it also requires being able to take commands and follow orders...not exactly something that is SS12's forte. This kid can't even SHOWER without putting up a total fight over it! I truly TRULY hope he DOES go into the Armed Forces when he turns 18...but he still has 6 years left, so I'm sure he'll change his mind sometime between now and then (or between now and the end of the day). All I know is, if it happens, I want video of it, because I will laugh my ass off the first time he tries to tell a commanding officer that he didn't pull his weight because he "didn't feel like it," or because he's "too lazy for that." (Yes, this is an excuse SS12 uses regularly for not getting ANYTHING done at home, at school, pretty much anywhere.) I think it would be good for him to get some hard-core structure and discipline since he doesn't get it anywhere else. Anyone out there had skids join the military and have since been shored up from the experience? Or conversely, couldn't last one week because they just couldn't take it?

I wouldn't say anyone would force him into the military, but he IS unruly, he has an attitude, and if anyone were a little princess, it's HIM. When DH mentioned he'd have to be a lot less lazy, he looked a little less interested... A lot of DH's family was in the military, DH is one of the only ones who didn't got into the armed services, it wouldn't surprise me if he wound up there...it WOULD surprise me if he lasted. Happy Veteran's Day!

Oh man, I could never do it, I don't know how military personnel do it, deployed or not. I applaud.

OMG, are you me and I didn't know it!?! Wink Everything you just said applies here, too, SS12 has actually woken us up out of a dead sleep on nights we go to bed early because he saw a spider in his room. It's really either/or, my hunch is that SS12 will get spit out rather than shaped up...but one thing is for certain: once he turns 18, he's not living in my house anymore.

That was so freaking hysterical, I'm going to use that.

My SS12 says the same thing! I think he thinks that the military is like a video game or something. I, too, hope he really does it. Not only will it be hysterical to know that they are going to kick his butt, but it maybe he will gain some self-respect and responsibility out of the whole deal. But, like you said, he'll probably change his mind by 15. He's WAAAAAAY too lazy.
